Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

This really hurts me because I want to support Big Chief, but right now there is no way I can justify $200 plus shipping for this figure based on what is included. It would be one thing if there was more than one head or multiple shirts and bowties, or even if there were real leather boots, but as it is this is really a minimal figure for an awful lot of money -- especially since I don't care at all about any of the accessories except the sonic. If it was $150 it would be one thing, but I'm afraid $200 is more than I think it is worth.

I also said this on OSW, but if Eleven with one of the simplest costumes of all the Doctors is this much money, then how much is one with a complicated costume going to be?

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Minimal? Have you seen the number of accessories this comes with?

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Not to mention that this is what we have all been dreaming about since we were itty bitty kiddies: A FREAKING HIGH QUALITY 1:6 SCALE DOCTOR WHO LINE!!!!

What price did you think it was going to be coming from a small UK studio?

Not all companies can price like Hot Toys and even they would have had this at more than $150 ....my guess would be $170, though their prices are steadily rising and that's just a guess because who knows the licensing cost involved.
Compare things to Enterbay and Medicom and $200 ain't bad. Sure I'd like it cheaper but I didn't expect it to be.

Plus it does come with a fair amount of accessories and I think you have to count the nice Tardis base in there as well (since they could have just gone with the tiny standard black stand)

Also I don't think other Doctors with slightly more complicated costumes will be a higher price. Price represents overall work and specifically head sculpts. Scarves and long jackets aren't going to see prices skyrocket.

Exactly what he said! :lecture:exactly:
If you want a much cheaper, lower quality figure, I believe Character Options make some!

Try replicating Tweed in 1/6th without it looking like a dead, wet cat. Not so simple if you ask me.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Not simple at all and I think they hit a home run.

I just hope BC manage to keep the releases exciting and don't go the SSC/SW route of releasing non-important characters.

Release the essentials first, get everyone invested in the line, and then move towards more obscure characters.

At these prices, you probably don't have to worry about that. At $200 a pop, this isn't going to be a super deep line I don't think. Once they get Amy done they need to stick solely to Doctors, and even then I think they'll still be extremely lucky if they get around to all 11.

Agreed.

Essential characters to ensure the line gets off to the best possible start,

11th Doctor & Amy

4th Doctor & Leela

10th Doctor & companion ( if Rose isn't possible then it should be Martha )

Non important characters that shouldn't even be considered,

Rory

River Song

Captain Jack

In terms of mid-importance characters, I would buy a Mickey (or is that Rickey). He is just such a cute character, although I would only buy him if a Rose figure were made first.

Or Martha.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I'd love to see a 1:6 TARDIS nicely done. (In fact I'd love to see all 6 of the main TARDIS exteriors)

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I was actually wondering if maybe that little corner glimpse of the TARDIS in one of the product photos might be a prototype shot of the 1:6 TARDIS.

I've only been a fan since 2005 but I've wanted some decent 1:6 Classic characters for a good few years, even more so now the CO line has become such a waste of money.

Good for you!, it's not everyone who would go back and watch the classics after getting into the show trough the modern series.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I'm in the same boat as BCM77 more or less.

I bought Doctor who 2005 season one at gamestop for 5$. ( lucky miss-priced box-set lol)
And loved it. Paid full price for season 2... and then went back to the begenning as season 3 was not on the air yet.

i have seen very FEW doctor who episodes i did not like. Old or new.

Amusingly, my favorite doctor is 8. Moreso for the Radio Dramas than the goofy made for tv movie.

Here's hoping we get two Figures of Mcgann.

As both could be included in a single package by simply including a second head and new jacket.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

There are some amazing audios, for those that have never tried them. They are well worth it and make all the living Docs the Docs they should be. :)

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I agree, the audios, especially 8th Doctor's, are absolutely brilliant. I love the 8th Doctor's audios. He's got some amazing stories.
