Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!
I was perfectly happy to pick up Eleven, even at that price, and just so long as the final version is as good as the promo pics, I don't see any regrets over that decision coming my way.
No way I'm paying that kind of money for a Weeping Angel though, I don't care how good it is. Sorry, but when you start talking the big bucks, I'll only lay that out for characters I have a real attachment to and fondness for, and the Weeping Angels just do not make that cut for me. Not at these prices anyhow. And I consider myself to be a hardcore Who fan.
And I've been distinctly underwhelmed by the Amy Pond piece so far, so I really can't see myself buying that either unless something radically changes. I hope that the piece does continue to improve, and I'd love it to end up good enough (in my eyes) to change my mind, but to be honest I don't expect it to happen. Be happy to be proven wrong though.
So at this point the only upcoming release I'm looking forward to and hopefully buying now will be Ten, and that will only be if Big Chief a) Nail the character just as well as they did with Eleven, and b) if the final production version of Eleven when in hand actually lives up to what we saw from the proto and promo pics. If it doesn't, then it'll take an awful lot to win me over again. After all, one expensive 'leap of faith' purchase is about my limit, after that it is all eyes open...
