Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I just ordered a second 11. I got the first one from BC directly, and I'll get Amy there too, but I went with TFAW for the second. The more than $70 difference was too good to pass up!

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I ordered from TFAW too. My plan is to order a second from WhoNA when they get them in. I just realized that I really want to create a second figure with at least the green coat, maybe a more blue-centric get-up... but I want the tweed look as well. So... yeah... buying it twice. :) So I'll get a cheap one from elsewhere and support my favorite retailer with another.

Honestly, I really like the purple look from the upcoming episodes too, based on the preview pics they've shared of him filming with JLC. So if they offer that up as an expansion pack I'll probably need the second figure for that too. Maybe that one I can alternate between the green coat and the purple coat. :)

WhoNA is a good company.
I may want a standard 11 and a ganger. Don't know for sure. Of course, I'm a much bigger 10 fan than 11, so I could really get into trouble when they release variants on him! :O

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I definitely want a full Ganger, Fez dude and Cowboy hat dude. And it occurred to me that my stores her, in shanghai may stock them. If so,I'll pick up a spare, so I have the base figure and a full costume to break up.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Well, I met with the guys from BIG CHIEF at the Annual Summer Fair at the NEC this morning. What a great trio of guys they are too! I must have seemed like a tremendous bore with question after question, and they fielded them with the utmost polite professionalism.

Sadly, as most of these answers fall into the "Cannot talk about it just yet" category...I can't say much. But what we did talk about is all fantastic and I hope it all goes ahead as planned.

I also got to see the proto 10 and 4 (and the rest) up close and let me tell you, photos just do not do them justice. The 10 particularly is just great up close, the slightly higher arch of one eye-brow than the other, the slight pursed 'V' in his lips, the great hair is all right there in front of you in miniature. Tom's Fedora is a work of art in itself, beautiful work indeed. And the actual colour-rich texturing of both these figure's hair sculpts was lovely.

Lucky you, after seeing 10 in person do you feel it could do with a tad longer neck and perhaps have a sculpted neck instead? That is the one of the things I don't like so much about the figure going by the pictures.

What was the weeping angel like up close?

Did they give you any idea of when we might see Amy, Daron? :dunno

Well they did say that they were aware of issues, and that these were being addressed, including how the costume actually sits on the figure.

The Angel is a thing of beauty. It looks just like a mini prop from the series. I can tell you, it is one I shall be ordering directly from BCS site too. It will come with swap out parts.

These guys are just so talented. Their Baker Street Boys, though they look brilliant, are still works in progress in terms of paint apps. Man I wish that I could show the picks but I made a promise not too.

But good grief the temptation is so strong! :gah:

Right now I feel :blissy

Sadly no, but news is no all bad. The main trouble is that they have had to go back to virtually scratch to get the basic figure correct, and they were royally screwed over by the first company they were dealing with for it too. A large number of bodies were made at seriously sub standard and yet BCS are still liable to cover the cost of them, as well as having to "up sticks" and get someone else. They were very polite about it but it was easy to tell that they were pissed off.

But the basic body remains the main hold out, there are issues with her hair line, and the final paint app will be improved but the costume is finished and good to go. Literally tweak the head, and finalise a new body and Amy is going to be another great addition.

Sadly no costs yet for the expansion packs either. But they look really high quality. I also liked the ganger head too, up close it looks better than that blown-out photo we saw to start with. Though they are great because they are well aware that the initial photo was not too well received and are working on it.

I have now met these folks and they really seem to have their fingers on all the right pulses. :yess:

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Awesome info!

I really can't wait to see the final paint on Amy. I'm teetering on the edge of the knife on that one. I really want her, and I'd like some expansion packs for her. But I'm still undecided.

Great to hear the Weeping Angel is great. Can you give us more insight into how it's constructed? I can't wait to see close-up pics. Is it all plastic?

I am very anxious to see what the roll-out on these figures is going to be like. I'm hoping now that they've settled in with a new factory things will be much smoother from here on out. The work on 11 seems fantastic. The wait getting him has been killer.

Very sad to hear about their troubles with the other factory. It's a landmine out there find a good factory. Some talk a good game but just don't deliver the goods. :(

And problem #1 = the simple matter of distance. It's not like a car journey away or anything.

As to expansion packs and other items, and such...I can say that BC will be selling the Male bodies separately soon, so that will be handy for many things.

PS: Other reassuring news...Gregg is an ace BATMAN fan, I could tell from his uber-cool 'Joker' themed Baseball boots :yess: Greg's BATMAN footwear FTW!

I hope Big Chief are making the Doctors their priority. Companions and monsters are nice, but I suspect the majority of us want a complete lineup of Doctors. Although I hope releases like Amy and the angels make some good money for them too so they keep pumping out Doctors!

I'd rather have monsters and companions than 6,7, or 8....

Oh man. Not me. Definitely not me. I really do think that, while he wasn't my favorite Doctor, 6 would be visually stunning if the tailoring was right. Plus 7 is prolly my second favorite Doctor outfit.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I wouldn't sayno to any of the Doctors. Each will be met with :hi5:

I am with you on this one. There are so many classic and modern monsters that would look AMAZING on a shelf, I would rather have just my favorite Doctors, and then more monsters. :)

That's understandable, but I bet a lot of people feel that way... and since "my favorite Doctors" varies quite a bit from person to person that leaves BCS in a bit of a pickle. I think releasing all the Doctors with the most favored of the monsters and companions is the way to go to please the most amount of people.

Once I have 3,4,5,9,10,11 I'll be far less interested in Doctors and more interested in the other DW characters. I'll buy 1 and 2 for sure and PROBABLY pick up 6,7,8 (I guess...) but I feel much more strongly about my top 6 Drs than the other 5.

I do expect to buy multiples of 3,4,10 if that tells you anything about my preferences. Those are my 3 favorites.
