Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I'm more than aware of it but I fail to see why they are worthy of so much praise as they sure didn't entertain me.

Well I thought they were far better written then most of the daftness that passes for Who these days. Human Nature/Family Blood in particular was superb. It also helped that it had real emotional heart coming from it in waves.

Something different from your usual mindless run around that ends in a 'CGI rendered, sparkly lights solve everything' fest.

I don't mind slower paced episodes, given my preference for the serial format of the Classic era I in fact prefer them and maybe with a different actor in the lead role I could have got into it but Tennant's lack of charisma when he's not being manic was woefully apparent in that story and it really cemented my opinion that he's the worst Doctor ever.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Oh I don't think he's th worst *gives shifty looks to Colin*, but he didn't do an awful lot for me really.

I liked some of his performances, but just not all of them. His 'manic Doctor' grated on me too after a while.

To be fair I've never seen more than clips of Colin or Sylvester so I can't speak too much about them but they do seem more natural in the role,I always feel that Tennant is forcing his lines out and when it's time for the Doctor to be serious he sounds almost as bad as that plank that played Anakin Skywalker in the 2nd & 3rd Star Wars prequels.

Had he not been hyped up to the nth degree as being the best thing ever by RTD and his cronies, elements of the UK media and fans who likely never knew the show existed prior to 2005 I would have perhaps tolerated his obvious flaws longer but I can't be in the same room if he's onscreen and none of the others have had that effect on me.

Moving back on to the topic of the thread before I get too carried away in my ranting ( which I admit happens a bit too often sometimes ) I did get another figure today, the "Next Doctor" Cyber Leader which is nice enough but I mostly got it for the final part of the "Tomb Of the Cyberman" Cyber Controller build a figure.

Gruff Old Bear
Your welcome!!!

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

When we get a Sylvester McCoy, I hope he has his hat and cane. However, after the celery debacle, I'm not holding my breath. :(

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

At this point, hearing all the rumors, I will be most gratefull just to get a Sylvester McCoy. Hat or no.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Are the rumours saying that we're not going to get him then?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

With the Pertwee figures being confirmed I'm confident we'll get the remaining Doctors and maybe the Special Weapons Dalek via FPI as there was a picture of the unpainted sculpt a while back but beyond that I think the Classic line is done.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I could see the SW Dalek coming in a two pack with McCoy.

It seems logical but knowing Character Options we could well end up with a McCoy figure that has the hat only with celery on it!

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I am thinking this will be one of them:

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

That's a great image,where'd you find it?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I just googled "sea monsters" "pertwee". :)

Try doing the same with "katy manning" "dalek" :naughty
( not if you're at work or the wife/gf is about though lol! )

That attire for one of the Pertwee figures would be OK with me,it'd make sense to have one based on the story in which the Sea Devils appeared as aside from the Dalek in the 3-pack they're the only Pertwee era creatures Character Options have made.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I wish typing Janet Fielding and Daleks would yield as interesting a result. :monkey2

:lol

I think several of the older companions were a lot easier on the eye than today's.

Good news for US fans. The Pertwee figures will be available though Underground Toys as it's another joint venture between UT and FPI. I am getting a sneaking feeling this is how we will see 7 and 8 come out, likely by years end.

So I guess that means WhoNA will be selling them?
