Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

No idea but if you look though all the promotional stuff you wont find any mention of a series 5. I think its because it's a brand new production team. Makes me wonder how they will market this when it comes to Blu/DVD releases.

Why would anyone want to buy an action figure embodying the moment when some of the worst television ever made first arrived on our screens?

The Regeneration version of the 10th Doctor did well so maybe Character Options think lightning will strike twice?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Sorry! couldn't resist that one :naughty

To be perfectly honest I really can't say how bad Colin was as I've only seen clips but I've not heard much positive about him beyond "he was better in the audios".

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Colin was good, I think. He had potential to be a great Doctor if they had listened to him about what was right for his portrayal. Problem was he was surrounded by one of the worst production teams* in DW history who had almost no support from the BBC.

*I am talking about sound quality, lighting quality, writing, and production (ie JNT).

I'm currently renting the 3rd series of Blake's 7 on DVD and I've just watched an episode where Colin Baker played the bad guy and he was pretty good in that, so once I've gone through all 4 series of B7 I'll perhaps add a couple of
6th Doctor stories to my rental list as that way I've not wasted much cash if I don't like them.

Was the one he did with Patrick Troughton any good?

Back on topic what figures do others want to come with the inevitable future releases of the 7th and 8th Doctors?

I think the Special Weapons Dalek is likely to be with 7 and 8 is likely to be a single pack unless they do a variant of the rumored "Ghost Light" 7th Doctor and rename it "Old Doctor".

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I think you are right about 7. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Bruce/Master fig in full black time lord drag with 8.

I forgot the Master was in it but it would be as good a possibility as any.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I haven't seen any of the Pertwee episodes where he wore those tall boots. That was not a good look.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I like it. Makes him look like he was getting ready for a wicked game of polo. :lol

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

August release! August release! This is gonna be a looong wait for 7 and 8 now though.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

The Pertwee likeness doesn't seem as good as the other Classic Doctors but I didn't reckon much to the Peter Davison sculpt when I first saw it either yet that's excellent in person so I'm not put off in the slightest.

Pix,
Great call on the Regeneration 4th Doctor, cash permitting I might do that as it's the version that marks the transition of my two favorite Doctors.

Hopefully they stopped doing the white iris on figures. Looks like on Pertwee they did.. I know I Sharpied the eyes in on almost ALL my figures.

Yeah it's annoying on 1:6 scale stuff but even more so on smaller figures.
I was fortunate to get a smiling head on one of my 4th Doctors that was lacking it and it was amazing what a difference it made.

I hope a lot of these new releases stick around for a bit otherwise I'm likely going to end up paying through the nose for them on ebay.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Well I know WhoNA blasted through the SDCC stuff today, and I have a feeling Pertwee will be gone just as fast. Here goes another $80, glad I never got the Sea Devil though.

Last years SDCC Exclusives are still available in some Forbidden Planet stores,I saw some as recently as a month ago so I'm hoping this will be the case with this year's as well as the other new stuff.

As long as I can get both 3rd Doctor sets and the 4-pack with the 4th Doctor I'm not too worried about the others as I've a feeling the Classic Doctors will get rereleased by themselves somewhere down the line.
