Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

New in hand pics:

Tom and the Time Lord. I should point out that the Time Lord isn't as orange as this photo makes out. Blame the orangeness on my rubbish photography skills:

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Ew, what happened to the River figure?

Not that I was bothered about the figure anyway but it seems that River Song has fallen victim to the Character Options curse as almost all of their female figures have been mediocre.
The Time Lord looks decent though and will make a suitable stand in for a Classic one.

Tesco in the UK currently have a buy 1,get 1 free offer on all Doctor Who figures so I was able to pick up a couple of extra Sea Devils this morning and will probably get some Zygons and D84's if they've still got some next week when I have some more cash.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

The monsters look really good especially as you get more.

That they do. I also got my first look at the plush Adipose in person as they came in stock at work today and it was kinda funny seeing about 10 of them sat on the shelf!

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

hey bcm, two things: 1. do you have a use for your spare Robot parts? and 2. Are the plush Adipose worth getting?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Hey Sean, I don't think you ever saw this. Here is my classic Newbury styled TARDIS which Anzik Hayes made for me.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Haha ohh I saw it, just makes me incredibly jealous. :lol I dont know though, with Doctor Who I have a huge problem. I am usually very OCD about continuity and details matching up with whats on screen but in Doctor Who everything was always in flux that Im torn between what is accurate onscreen and what would make the most sense. What really bugs me though is how off the scale is between Classics and Modern. Anyway, that is a tiny work of art you have there Marc. Be proud.. and add some lights and sounds :lol

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Not me. The TARDIS is ALIVE and I believe to compensate for the broken Chameleon circuit she just changes little bits (like the inside has changed over the years).

Continuity preserved. :lol

In answer to your questions,

1.No, I was probably going to put them on ebay but if you want them I'm sure we can work something out. I also have extra parts from the 4th & 6th Doctor figures as I got a second 4th Doctor for myself a while ago and an extra 6th Doctor for Pix but he didn't want the Robot part.

2.Whilst I wouldn't put them in the top drawer of Doctor Who aliens I think the plush Adipose is pretty well done and would make a fun display if you surrounded it with all the small ones that came with the latest 10th Doctor rerelease.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Haha Oh, in show wise, I absolutely believe the TARDIS is alive. I also like the explanation that if a human show the true interior to a TARDIS their head would explode. But on a production side, that's where I go bonkers. Was it meant to be a faithful police box replica, were certain models stunted because of filming space, things like that. It's my belief that, while off in some respects the FC TARDIS is the best representation of an overall TARDIS. That being said though I really would have loved to see this entire line in a smaller scale. Scale I think is the one major problem with this line. Well that and paint jobs.. and some sculpting.. and likeness.. and mold issues. *sigh* :lol

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

With Christmas coming in fast things can get very hectic. But to give you a bit of a break each day we are once again holding an Advent Calendar over on Doctor Who Figures Online (www.drwhofigures.co.uk).

Each day we’ll be uploading a range of content related to Doctor Who and the figures – from pictures through to comics, stories and more. Some are made by me, but some by other talented users.

And it’s not too late to send yours in too – I can’t have too much stuff for the calendar, so send me all your content. There couldn’t be a better time for it as you’ll get more users viewing it than you usually would by just putting it up randomly.

Plus we’re holding a special competition to decorate your TARDIS consoles, the best will win a great prize!

You can either sign up on our forum and PM me, PM me through here or send an email to [email protected]

So don’t forget to check each day for the new stuff and I wish you all a very Happy Advent!

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I have all the12" figures from the new series seasons 1-3 However When i got the face of boa I was hoping for something a bit larger. The only Tardis they had available at the time was the money bank, which isn't bad it just doesnt truely open comepletly. I had to get the 9th doctor figure wlkie tlkie version as they had no actual figure for him. And Rose was a head sculpt that my husband (dwing) bought and painted and put on (Faith)-Buffy line body. Im no good at the painting . I wish they would gear them more toward adults in their construction so they are less likely to fall apart. but some pieces are really nice- like the clockworkman. Hoping to get the new Badwolf tardis coming out next.

If you are looking for a collector/adult geared line it will NEVER be from Character and that actually caused a stir a few months ago.

From that interview he gave, the guy in charge of the Doctor Who lines for Character Options came across as a complete twat.
Anyone who thinks a Classic line should be primarily marketed to KIDS,most of whom will have no idea that Doctor Who existed before the 2005 relaunch should not be allowed to run a bath, let alone a high profile licensed action figure line.
And the crap he's pulled with the 5th Doctor's celery and is rumored to be doing with the 7th Doctor's hat & umbrella is the most retarded thing I've heard in all the time I've been collecting.

Good news?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/b...s/2008/11_november/licensed_adult_range.shtml

Still very much at the top of everyone's wishlist and showing no signs of slowing down in 2009 is Doctor Who, returning with some fantastic new lines from Character Options including "collect and build" figures, Time Squad collectible figures, further classic figures and the Doctor's Book of Impossible Things.

Thats the closest we have come to official confirmation of a classic wave 2. :Date

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Count me down for the classics, the Doctors Journal and.. wouldnt it be fantastic if the Time Squad was code for 3 and 3/4? :lol

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I admit Im a new collector of Dr. Who, and because of that Im more familar with the new seasons. However, I still find it frustrating that they keep making 6" or 9" figures when what they need to be making is 12". I went looking for the screeming angel figure online and they had this tiny 9"version. I could have caved and gotten it but I really want a larger version for my collection. I just wish they realized that their are serious collectors out there. Not kids playing with toys. What I saw online didn't portray a real change in their line.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Well that's what we are saying, Character is only producing toys for children, there are no real collector lines (outside of Sideshow, Hot Toys and Medi there are only small niche companies who I doubt would take on Who), likeness problems with certain actors and lastly the Character 12 inch line is dead. So unless SS can talk to the BBC and get a collectors license, or someone makes some fantastic top to bottom customs and does a run for them we are SOL on good, quality, mass produced Who figures.
