The steed pieces were always ny favorites out of the weta line, never owned any of them though. :lol

I had all of them at one point (including Sam & Bill). I sold them all, but I do miss them at times.

Gandalf on Shadowfax was favorite. Actually that was my favorite piece in the whole SS/W line-up, that and the Treebeard bust.

I'm sitting here, watching TTT and I really hope we get a Warg Rider with this line (or PF). The Riders definately have a look all their own.

Where did they mention about Faramir and Eomer?

In their 'Ask Sideshow' segment on Jan. 11th.

Question : I think your creative team should really be commended in the way they have approached the new LOTR maquette line. Obviously a lot of thought and consideration has gone into the execution of this line! We can’t wait to see what’s next after first 6 or so that we’ve seen in progress – any hints? Or even more photos of Arwen, Gimli & Boromir would be appreciated! – AND – Has Sideshow decided which characters will be produced as part of a “second wave” of LOTR statues? And if so, do they include any of the following characters: Faramir, Eomer, Denethor,or Haldir? And whichever characters are in the planning stage? I think I can speak for all LOTR fans when I say none of us will be upset should you decide to post more conceptual drawings for us to drool over!

Answer : Major, major thanks. We’ll share your feedback with all involved! You’ll see more of Arwen and Gimli soon, and Boromir shortly after. Faramir and Eomer have been designed (and they look great). Denethor and Haldir will wait for further down the road. We’ll see about sharing more of the design work with you soon!

I don't think that I have ever been so psyched over any collectible line. Everything just seems to be going in the right direction here. Obviously the first thing that stands out is the actor likenesses. But the other thing that I really like is the round, detailed bases. It makes displaying so much easier. The map of Middle Earth etched into the bases of the Weta statues was sort of a cool idea, but the oval shape made it a nightmare for maximizing your space. You'd sometimes have one base going this way and another going that way. It would limit the angle of display as well if you didn't have a lot of room to work with.
Weta provided us with many masterpieces that I will never part with and I will be thrilled to display these new maquettes right beside them. Besides that, it's great to see some new life for LOTR collectibles.

Trust me....you are not alone. :lecture

No not alone really. Like I said I'm feeling or starting to feel like I did with the SSW line. I remember when the first part of the ROTK line went up a lot of us on a Tolkien board got up very early to make sure we got our orders in for Sauron, Morgul Lord, Etc. Was crazy but fun.

I was pretty much out of collecting up until now, the only PFs I have are Frodo and GTG but this line and all this hobbit news is def getting that old familiar feeling back into me.

I may have to sell some things and devote myself back to LotR again.

If there was ever a time to get onboard...this is it. I think we're in for one heckuva ride. :lecture

I do as well. Gonna be great to see LOTR get going strong again and people talking about LOTR/The Hobbit. How in the world do you think I built most of this post count. :lol

Seems to becoming the best line yet (as far as good guys concerned).

It will be hard to top WETA's bad guys like RWOS, Cave Troll, MOria Orcs, Uruk-Hai Scout, Witchking of Angmar, Watcher in the Water, ...

I'd say it's not about 'topping' anything. It's about expanding and adding to the world of LOTR collecting. I look at the collaboration between Sideshow and WETA and all the original releases as the classic days and they hold a very special charm of their own. This new line will have it's own moments of sheer brilliance I don't doubt and maybe one day they too will be re-invented in another format and these will become part of the 'silver age' of LOTR collectables :peace

Really good to see new news on LOTR, but I will remain an avid 'drooler' only over this range as I'm staying faithful ..(ish) to the PF dream of the Fellowship.

Your wallets are gonna hurt with this onslaught and your shelves are gonna groan with awsomeness :lecture

I had a bunch of the Toy Biz figs but didn't really get into statue collecting until 2003. The only Weta pieces I got were GTG, Gandalf on Shadowfax, and Sauron (ended up selling him 2 years ago). I started collecting the PF line but I only bought Frodo, Aragorn, and Moria Orc.

I've never been a completionist with anything that I've collected but I could definitely see it happening with this line. We've all been impressed with what's been shown so far but I have a feeling we haven't seen anything yet.

Agreed. From all indications SS has merely scratched the surface so far....the best is yet to come!

Not quite the ride I had envisioned. :lol

Because of the quality of the sculptors Sideshow has, i don't know who i want more to get The Hobbit statue licence. Maybe Weta could do environments, Gentle Giant could do busts, and Sideshow could do PF's..... but who gets the statues?? I don't think i'd mind either way, i think Weta's sculptors have improved over the years and their likenesses would be better than *some* of their previous attempts like Aragorn and Legolas...

I believe you are correct. I think we just are getting started on this amazing ride. :rock

I'm not sure you can totally lose either way. Honestly, I would like to see SSW come back together for this. Not gonna happen I would say but in a perfect world. I think I would still prefer Sideshow to handle the humans and Weta can do some of the others.

Q.In your new LOTR 1/6 scale statue line, can we expect to eventually see all the “fellowship” members in both their Fellowship attire, as well as their alternate outfits where applicable? Also, are we going to see the primary/secondary characters that inexplicably have never been produced in statue form? I am specifically referring to characters such as Faramir, Eomer, Denethor, Haldir and the Mouth of Sauron. And lastly can you share with us the names of any of the above characters that are currently being produced, or are at or near the top of the list for future production?
A.
Yes, we very much intend for this format to be THE format that allows us to realize the promise of the full Fellowship, regardless of the attire. Yes, Faramir, Eormer, and the Mouth of Sauron are in design, and perhaps Denethor and Haldir will be one day too…

Mouth of Sauron, finally!Hopefully he'll be on his steed
