Have you looked at this statue from all the angles they show?
Where do you see them putting a steel rod in?
here's the problem as I see it-
The effectiveness of any rod support is limited to diameter (which here is determined by how much space in the wrist will allow a straight rod to pass) and by it's
unbroken length.

Trace a straight line down through the arm and exit where the wrist joins the palm. how far can that rod extend in a straight unbroken, un-bent line?
And even if they are able to put in a long, angled rod up through the girder and up through the arm, you are still going to be creating a stress point at the right shoulder where all the weight of the figure is now going to be supported. This is clearly not a well balanced statue.
Visually interesting? Yes. Balanced? No.
If people are seeing problems with relatively simpler designs like the JSC Spider-man and the Superman PF, I find it really hard to swallow that something like this will make past a couple years unscathed.
