After taking some time to prioritize what I want to order, I put $170 in rewards to this guy to get him under $300 before shipping.

I'm excited for this guy, first PF order and actually first statue so I'm all kinds of excited

Yeah I thought this was a great one to start with and had high hopes after seeing the teaser.

I love JSC's art but his Spidey Statue didn't quite pull thru for me.

Funny, but I feel almost the exact opposite. I love the base. Love the explosion effect and the colors of the girder and explosion and how those look against the primaries of the S-M costume.

The main thing I'm not crazy about is the position of the two legs cross ankled behind the figure. I realize that the general pose gets the idea and attitude across that he is vaulting over this girder- but the positioning of both legs behind the figure amounts to nonsense. You wouldn't propel yourself forward with your midsection, you would lead with your head and upper body, or alternately with your leg(s). This figures head and shoulders and feet/legs are both trailing his pelvis.

Oh ok. Then that's why you were charged the NRD immediately. WL orders don"t get charged the NRD until it converts.

Was there ever a glitch that didn't work in sideshows favour?

Glad for the people wanting the EX. Unfortunately it's just too expensive for international collectors to take gambles on SS pieces for the most part. I'll wait for in hand pics.

I'm thinking now , with the slightly larger scale they might be able to scribe the black lines in easier and by hand. I'm not sure how they can maintain that nice shading he's got otherwise. The red paint is quite striking , but so was the JCS proto.

I decided to cancel my order befor I got charged the NRD. I don't want to contribute to a ridiculous ES, so I'll just reorder when the real WL comes up.

Looks like someone just posted this about Alex mentioning the "lean" concern that some may have about the piece! I'll quote it here, and maybe she'll come and confirm, but it's still good to hear a lot of engineering thought went into the piece!

Sideshow Alex -- "Since I've seen a few concerns regarding worries over potential leaning of this piece I wanted to relay some information I received from the production team about the engineering of this piece.

It is being engineered to have metal rods that go from the Spider-Man body through his support arm and then into a big chunk of the beam/base portion of the piece. Those metal rods are being placed in there to try and prevent any leaning that such a piece could incur without a metal rod internal structure.

So just passing that along since there have been questions/concerns (rightfully so) about potential lean of this item."[/I]

Yeah, the thing peeps need to understand is there is no benefit to SS doing a fake sellout on a new order. Somebody screwed up, which I thought was most likely. Now to decide if I am going to get it or not. The hysteria made me take a closer look at it, and Spidey is one of the few characters I could have multiples of. You going to order this now Spidey?

Well, my waitlist converted and went live and I decided to let it go for now... I am going to talk it over with my wife and maybe order it over the next couple of days. I think I will order it and just see how it turns out. I do have to save some money to work on some of my own projects.... lol.

You better check that you can actually cancel first. I'd imagine this "glitch" is going to throw up a situation where a bunch ( a big bunch) of people though " yay , free wait list ". When sideshow might have already taken your cash and are now saying its NRD and you had a statue all along.

As for letting your wait list go, that's all good. It's not like people can't just cancel things. It's just blowing my mind to see the amount of people who believe Sideshow wait listed this one purpose over night in order to flood in orders. It was cleared up pretty damn early this morning, and it's not like everyone who panicked and placed a PO only to cancel it almost all won't eventually just PO the damn thing down the road anyway.

Sideshow definitely has some work to do in various departments and deserves some of the flack they get, and I know there have been times when stock has changed at random with little explanation; however, 12 hours after one of the biggest characters ever goes up and loads of people REALLY honestly think they're that starved for orders that they need to use a scare tactic at 2am? Just mind-boggling!

All this talk about the glitch as SSC evil master plan... First, it happened after SSC business hours and was fixed fairly soon after. You could get to the order one way and the waitlist another. So something was weird. Second there were plenty of post saying "Ex Ordered" So I don't think SSC was too concerned about selling this... They have not played that game with other pieces and some of them have been really quiet with the "ordered" posts. Third peeps gotta relax.

They usually charge customers the NRD within 48 hours after their WL converts.

You've never seen a WL change to Pre-order?

Yeah, this was probably a glitch but I've seen loads of items go to WL and some are still available today

Well yeah, but odds are in most cases (unless you're CBG) if you're on these threads and ordering statues you know about TBD by this point. And if you're jumping on the wait list out of fear of missing it, you should probably just order anyway. If you're just looking to not slap down an NRD for a while, then that's fine, cancel the wait list and order later...or don't.

I'm talking more about people in other groups mainly who seem to feverishly believe that Sideshow did all that on purpose. I'm not saying there isn't reason to believe they haven't done it before in other cases, but for this one in the middle of the night after 12 hours? That's pretty silly. I think those people just get off on trash talking Sideshow.

I would say this is a damn fine piece that is a match for the original Com assuming that the paint apps come out well.

I got n the Waitlist assuming it would give me more time to make a decision. Like I said I am going to chat with the wife and see if she is okay with me ordering this one and then deciding between it and the Com nice I have it in hand. It's not awful (even though your name is SPIDEY! ) as that's pretty much how I am with Hot Toys. My aim is to keep it to one representation of each character. These things cost quite a bit, so if you've got what you believe is the perfect Spidey representation, then huzzah! But yeah, it's also good to talk it over and figure it out from there. In the end, if you do get it just to decide in-hand which is better, I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out then and not end up losing money in the process!
