Very disappointed with Sideshow on this one. I mean, when you charge this much money for something that doesn't look as good or as accurate as a Hasbro item? That's pretty bad.
Also the feet are way too chunky at the bottom, the pole is possibly (not sure on this one) too short... and the fabric (whilst a nice touch) is the wrong colour completely. It should be red as the main colour.
Maybe I'm dumb and naive, but I just don't understand how there is a problem getting this sculpt dead on. The more I look, the less I like the fat angels, and the number of railings around the top is wrong. Why should I, an amateur with only the public resources of pictures on the internet and books, be able to criticize this at all? I can understand actors' likenesses being hard to do, but this is just so much more simple. Isn't there a team that looks at a sculpt, says this is good, fix this etc. before it ever gets approved to send to Lucasfilm? It seems ridiculous that just glancing at it I can see things wrong. Why can't the pros? They must know we prize accuracy to the film look. This keeps happening, I just don't get it!
I guess it depends on the material and surface, usually to get good gold you spray gloss black, then a metallic chrome (or gold) paint... but if this surface is dull it might not work.
The big thing for me (unless it looks LOTS better in person) is that I'd end up resculpting all 4 feet... and the angels.. and the wings
and that just seems like such a hassle to have to do on an expensive polystone piece.
I am very happy with my $40 Hasbro Ark.
