I think you're taking cancellations the wrong way. A great sculpt and all those accessories for a measly $90? I still think the faulty Pro is why Indy isn't sold out. All the bugs in the new body saturated just about every forum, YouTube and online review with every Tom, ^^^^ and Harry ripping the body to pieces. People canceled Belloq because despite all the bells and whistles, he didn't look like Belloq. People are canceling the Toht Ex because the Ark is a $90 let down. The fact that people are snatching up the regular Toht, despite the glasses and soft sculpt is testament to this.
Hasbro failed due to ^^^^ed up logic by marketing Indy to kids vs. collectors and choosing to oversaturate the market with Raiders offerings and the less than stellar KOTCS figures. If they'd bitten the bullet and released the TOD figures, I have no doubt they would've gotten a boost in sales. Sadly, the crippling cancellations from big stores like Walmart, Target and TRU had them thinking "Indy doesn't sell."
Indiana Jones can be an extremely profitable license if handled correctly. $600+ million in boxoffice gross begs to differ that the license isn't profitable. The focus just needs to be shifted from massively mass market, to the collector's market. And then, make sure you're doing what people want, not what you think they want. If another Indy is made, and Sideshow can capitalize off of it's release, instead of waiting until well after the movie's come and gone and improve on the issues that are crippling the line at the moment, I think they can recapture the success the license would've and should've had.
