Even if announcements are slower than LOTR its going to leave us wondering if after each announcement this will be the last or if we'll see something else until SS makes some kind of announcement that the line is done like they did with LOTR.

I really hope that's not true. Although I also don't think no SDCC announcement will mean the end of the line. We've been promised Crystal Skull Indy, and there are still 2 more figures coming this year, 3 if you count Toht Ex. I never knew I wanted high quality Indy figures until I saw Indy up for pre-sale last year. Now I'm an official 1/6 collector. And with Raiders being my favourite movie, I'm really hoping this line will continue so we can at least have 3-4 figures per movie.

The canceling of Toht Ex and having Belloq Ex still available just shows Sideshow that they can't sell figures above the $90 pricepoint for this line, regardless of the exclusive. People just aren't willing to spend that much for the packaged deal of figure and diorama. Maybe separately they would consider it--it would at least provide some flexibility for the customer. Hopefully Sideshow will learn from this and keep most of the figures in this line under $90 (I wish is was more like $70, though), but still with decent accessories like Henry (and not German Indy with his lame-o accessories).

There are so many cool figures that could come out of this line that will probably never happen.

Mola Ram is the only I can think of.

A Tux Indy, ToD Indy, Marion, Sallah and Short Round would be nice but not essential, imo.

I'm still surprised people thought this was going to be a super deep line. Stuff like the Grail Knight and Detrich never had a chance. Wishful thinking I suppose.

Well, there can be at least 1 Indy per movie. ToD can have Mola Ram and Shorty. Last Crusade can have Elsa and Col Vogel, and Crystal Skull can have Mutt and Spalko. Not super deep, but I can see it as a pretty healthy group with some nice character designs of a hero and a villain to represent each movie.

I would really hate to see this line peter out.

Pfffttt I am gonna be touching the Toht all day and night when I get mine.

Touching your Toht will do this to your palms...

Really? An Elsa figure? If the standard Adventure Indy won't sell out you really think more than a dozen people are clamoring for Elsa and Vogel figures? If those aren't part of a super deep Indy line fantasy what is? Monkey Man? :lol

You wanna know how disappointed I am in Toht & The Ark, and Sideshow's handling of this license in general?

I cancelled this. I have more than enough Reward Points to re-order it for FREE... but I still can't get myself to do it.

So, yeah, I've officially gone from wondering if I want to spend $150+ on this set... to now debating whether I even want to waste Reward Points on it.

:duh

Yes Elsa and Vogel!

;)

Well, they do have cool Nazi uniforms, and they would be a nice representation of the Last Crusade rogues gallery. And I would favour either of them over Donovan even though he was the main baddie.

Well they won't make a billion Elsa and Vogel figures. They learned there lesson now and know Indy is a small market so they won't make as many of them anymore. Which I think is good.

Agreed. I do think it's too bad that the 'environment pack-in exclusive' may not be working as well since I LOVE the idea of this and think it has such limitless potential (map-room Indy with floor enviro, Nepal Marion with bar enviro, white dress Marion with Well of Souls section enviro, etc.)

I guess if it's game over for the 'larger' enviro pieces, at least we got the pedestal and the ark (for those that will actually like the ark. and for the record, I'm keeping my order with the SS ark, even though it's not 'perfect') :angelsmil

SDCC is going to be very telling whether or not this line is going to continue. If nothing is announced that will pretty much seal the fate of the line. Cancellations of the Ark are continuing to climb up to 100 and soon the low-quantity indicator will disappear. This can't be good for Sideshow. They are going to take huge losses on Indy just like Hasblo did. Every licensor has dropped Indy like a hot potato. It just isn't a profitable license. It's sad because I waited my whole life for a dream line of high quality collectibles and now that I'm finally getting a lot of things I always wished for it always seems to end just when its getting started. There are so many cool figures that could come out of this line that will probably never happen.

I think you're taking cancellations the wrong way. A great sculpt and all those accessories for a measly $90? I still think the WIP Pro is why Indy isn't sold out. All the bugs in the new body saturated just about every forum, YouTube and online review with every Tom, ^^^^ and Harry ripping the body to pieces. People canceled Belloq because despite all the bells and whistles, he didn't look like Belloq. People are canceling the Toht Ex because the Ark is a $90 let down. The fact that people are snatching up the regular Toht, despite the glasses and soft sculpt is testament to this.

Hasbro failed due to ^^^^ed up logic by marketing Indy to kids vs. collectors and choosing to oversaturate the market with Raiders offerings and the less than stellar KOTCS figures. If they'd bitten the bullet and released the TOD figures, I have no doubt they would've gotten a boost in sales. Sadly, the crippling cancellations from big stores like Walmart, Target and TRU had them thinking "Indy doesn't sell."

Indiana Jones can be an extremely profitable license if handled correctly. $600+ million in boxoffice gross begs to differ that the license isn't profitable. The focus just needs to be shifted from massively mass market, to the collector's market. And then, make sure you're doing what people want, not what you think they want. If another Indy flick is made, and Sideshow can capitalize off of it's release, instead of waiting until well after the movie's come and gone and improve on the issues that are crippling the line at the moment, I think they can recapture the success the license would've and should have.

Tell that to Sideshow. I'm well aware of the reasons why Indy failed at retail because of Hasblos stupidity.

I never expected Hasbro to market Indy specifically for the collectors, but I am disappointed in the way the waves were distributed, and being denied figures that were shown at SDCC and obviously ready for production and then never carried through. But what is done is done. I'm more confused about the lack of commitment from higher-end companies. For example, if Hot Toys thinks there is a market for Mars Attacks and The Matrix, then surely there is interest in Indy.

As far as SDCC, I expect to see one, maybe two 1:6 figures and perhaps something new, like a dio. I don't anticipate a PF announced, being the KOTCS Indy is coming out the end of this year. But I hope I'm wrong.

I just got my Hasbro Ark from Carl aka IrishJedi and I have to say I am really blown away on how awesome this thing really is. Thanks again man, I appreciate the deal and I am glad I went with touching the regular Toht and cancelling the exclusive. Still feels weird saying that.
