I'm in the minority I know but I'm still hanging on to my exclusive Toht + ark. I have no excuses. Just want Toht and the ark from Sideshow.

I'm hoping, as most things go with SS, it will be better in hand. It may not be more accurate than the Hasbro, but...

With the reg Toht on waitlist and the Hasbro ark up to $60 anyway on ebay, I might as well stick with Sideshow on this.

CA tax/shipping is gonna be a killer though on an already expensive piece.

:clap Yay, Wor-Gar! You've inspired me! I'm going to stick it out with Toht!

I am with ya as well Wor-Gar, bring on the SSC ark.

It was a difficult decision. :( I almost went flexplay, but realized I will only display 1 Ark and, after some surgery on the plastic poles, it'll be the Hasbro Ark that I already have. That and VP only had 1 regular left sealed the deal.

I know shipping will be killer ($7-8 for Toht and $12-18 for the Ark?) but I hadn't considered the CA tax. :banghead But still... he's TOHT!

:)

That's three... out of what? 1,000 arks? Oh well, it's a start! :rock

Let's hope our loyalty is rewarded.

It's a shame I've waited my whole life for this line and there's no love for it. With all these cancellations we can kiss Temple of Doom figures goodbye just like Hasblo did.

I dunno, I think SSC still has some faith I bet we will at least get 3 or 4 more figures besides the ones announced already. I am thinking definitely a ToD Indy and a LC Indy and then possibly a Short Round to give us two characters from ToD and then two characters from LC. I am not sure SSC is going to spend the R&D for Mola Ram.

I dont like the Hasbro ark....kinda cheap looking with that super shiney look....a

:lol That's one way to put it.

What sucks is that this might kill the line...
A lot of people cancelled Belloq too... even the exclusive is still available...
this is worse than LOTR...

See I disagree, to me there was no alternative to the idol chamber with the Ark there is. It was literally a race to the finish line albeit one with no contest (I later would find I was wrong) but there was a loser and a clear winner. I picked up the Belloq exclusive and I picked up a regular Toht and gave the exclusive one the ax once the final production pieces came out. I think people will do a wait and see with the Indy line. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think the line is just fine.

I'm *this* close to cancelling. I don't really have any interest in Toht (although he looks cool) ... I'm trying to be very choosy with what I buy and display, and having my Indy in the Idol Environment is probably all the Indy stuff I need... it sums up everything.

I liked the idea of just having the ark on a shelf with a spotlight on it..... would look really nice. But with the ark being innacurate like it is... and the cost.... I'm just really close to cancelling.

I like how the Hasbro one looks.... but I like the idea of the SS one being more 'solid', less like a toy... it all depends how it looks in hand.

I've got the godfather, i've got vader coming... i've got my custom indy looking at the idol on the plynth.... i'm not sure I need the ark as well now. (of course if it had been accurate, i wouldn't even be thinking about cancelling)

arghh.... decisions decisions :lol

Nah Darren, you should keep your order and then after you've worked your magic on Toht you should send it off to someone. Hint.

I went through the same thing. I too find the idea of a solid Ark appealing. But that and the poles are the only real advantages to the polystone Ark. The price and inaccuracies aren't so great. I figured those chubby angels were going to bother me every time I looked at it. :lol Once I decided to remove the poles, my mind was made up on which Ark to display.

I guess I just don't understand why a "solid" ark is better? I have the Hasbro Ark right next to the solid Sideshow pedestal and it doesn't look any more toy like or of any less quality. Its not like I'm going to be bench pressing these things so if it looks better to me I don't really care if its "solid" or not.

To me personally I like a good weight to something, I don't know if it is the illusion that I got my moneys worth or what. It is like a PF statue, if it was all hollow or made of plastic and lighter than polystone I would feel ripped off. Yea that shouldn't be the point because how often do you touch them or pick them up but it is just something I like in a collectible.

Well, if you are factoring in the cost then I can see where it might matter to have a heavy item if it costs more (like the Boba PF mess) but I think for me at least if it looks good it looks good and thats what matters.

No doubt and that is what determines if I am going to buy something the most but weight does have a factor in everything, even if it is small. Since I don't have a Hasbro ark and not sure I feel like paying ebay prices right now I am sticking with SSC's one. Plus I want all SCC Indy exclusives.

I tend to agree with this. But heft and "solidness" can certainly add to its appeal and perceived value.

I totally get what you're saying! I also have the Hasbro Ark and it rocks. My Wife, who's never even handling it said it looked "cheap" and "like something I'd get from a cereal box". I don't know if it's because of the finish (which in my book, MAKES the piece) or because it "looks plastic-y". Either way, I thought the SS version (because of their rep and the expense of the item) would be better made, more detailed, and more of a high-end collectible. I'm a Raiders nut and Sideshow is my favorite collectible company so by law (in my mind) I must eat what they feed me, but this is the first one I've had doubts on. The Hasbro Ark is better than "good enough". In my opinion it's visually superior to SS. I had my order process so it's being sent to me. I guess I'll see in 7 to 10 days if it's worth keeping.

Yeah, and there it gets back to cost. I guess the real question would be if you were at a store and the Hasbro Ark and Sideshow Ark were both $100 which would you buy? The heavy but not as accurate Sideshow or the more accurate but a LOT lighter Hasbro? And now that I think about it that might be a tough decision.

Yea and the only thing that really bothers me about the SSC ark is the finish. Which they said they couldn't do with polystone, which sucks but I guess it is with it is. The other issues with it aren't a big deal to me.
