Hi everyone, I've never collected these kinds of things before and I'm looking for some help. I'm interested in Premium Formats only as I would only want the high end collectible. Maybe even some 1:1 (I'm not into the 12-inch figures because I'm NOT looking for toys)

Pictures of the PFs on SS site make them look very nice. Now I know that part of the price has to do with the limited run of these figures, but for everyone that has a PF in their collection...

Not counting the occasional flaw, in person do these figures look/feel like $200-$300 dollars worth. I'm just don't want to be underwhelmed when I get one as I have a lot on order... Thx guys!

You WON'T be disappointed!

That being said, do I occasionaly feel guilty, especially in this economy, that I payed out $2,772.90 for PFs and Comiquette, hell yeah I do. But do I love them, hell yeah I do! That's why when one damages one ever the slight bit, it makes you feel horribly horrendous about it, so becareful with them. They're paint is not as scratch resistant as some may believe.

Captain America PF = $510.00

Thor PF = $336.89

Hulk PF = $500.00

Thing PF = $225.00

Punisher PF = $217.00

Iron Man Comiquette = $545.01

Spiderman PF = $439.00

PFs and 1:1s are worth every penny in my opinion.

I'd have to say I think the prices are a little more than they should be for PFs and 1:1 items, but having said that, once I have the piece, I almost never feel "cheated" or that they should have been cheaper. Most PFs and 1:1 busts look and feel their "value" once in hand.

Yep, I agree... they aren't a steal, but when you get them you won't be dissapointed.

But, some of them can be had for a lot less $$$ on the secondary market. Check eBay, check the commerce section here. You can get great deals on some of them, but others of course are very expensive... especially the Marvel ones.

I love all my PFs....I still get an occasional figure now and then, but I'm more impressed with the PFs in my collection. The detail is really amazing and though they are a bit pricey, to me it is worth it. I've yet to get a PF that I was disappointed in.

First of all let me welcome you to the freakshow.:banana

With that said, I still concider myself new only being in the hobby for about 6 or 7 months. I started out with 12-inch figures and have since switched to PFs for the same reason that you are looking into PFs.

I have since paid top dollar for some of my PFs that are no longer produced but I look at it like this; regardless of how much I pay for a PF, I know that I can almost always sell it for at least the amout I paid for it. If not then another PF will make up for the loss of the other. If you order at retail from Sideshow then most likely you will turn some sort of profit if and when you sell it.

So you really can't loose as long as you have the money to buy these things to begin with.

I actually have more trouble spending money on curios and shelves then the statues themselves. I still haven't done that yet. There's always another PF that I want to spend the money one.:lol

Edit:I have a PF coming tomorrow that I said I would never buy because of the price. Just a little something to let you know what kind of an addiction you are in for.:lol

I regret every second of recently purchased (and sold for a big loss) 12 inch figures from Hot Toys, Takara and DC Direct.

Not because of quality, 2 of those 3 Batmans were highly detailed with their designs BUT I have completely went nutzoid over SS's line of PFs that I refuse to spend money on anything other than those and maybe a comiquette here and there.

It doesn't even have to be Marvel (although those are my favs) because the 300 and Conan PF's might be in my future once I see the final products, which i'm sure will kick ass!

It's that simple, you can't go wrong with concentrating your budget towards PF's!

Unless you're one of the real wealthy who can own it all and if that's the case, more power to you. I salute those that are and do own it all and then flaunt their collection on this forum! I love every second of it and also remain jealous every second of it!

Why hate, just enjoy and soak it all in! Life is too short to hate!

Now, go buy your first PF damnit! Ignore the 12 inchers.....

they are worth every penny! and again even more. i have paid very high prices, especially for marvel on e-bay. and to me, they are worth it,

Thanks for the great welcome and information guys! Yeah money is tight for me too and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to start a new hobby. Problem is...I started with one preorder and all of a sudden that turned into five!

I was a little skeptical when I first saw the PFs online. I was starting to get into full size statues and wasn't sure about the size and clothing of these. The first PF I received dropped my jaw...I was instantly hooked. The next drug I took was the 1:1 busts. Even more awesome.

I think they are well worth the money. I remember when I first saw a PF and I thought the price was insane and not at all worth the product. But then I bought one. Then another. And now I have 18. And there are some others that I wish I had, including the first one I saw that I thought was way overpriced.

In this economy the wise thing to do is to focus on your must haves, and for me it's usually the higher end items. I'm not held back by completism, so I ditched all 1/6 collecting, except for the exclusive Vader.

I collect both 1/6 and PFs. I think the most important thing is to collect what you enjoy and don't stress out about it being worth more down the road (that always assuredly leads to disappointment in my experience). Who can say for sure what will hold value and what will increase/decrease (especially in this economy)?

Out of curiosity, what are the five on preorder?

I kept the exclusive Vader as well.:lol

I've seen a few disappointing PFs in person, and a few that just blew me away. I can understand why someone would concentrate on them, but that's just not for me. There's too many of my favourite characters that aren't part of the PF line.

Indy PF
Mystique EX PF
Blackbeard EX PF
Cammy PF (Not sure If I'm gonna keep this one)

Waitlist:

P. Zero EX
Berserker EX (Looks cool but I'm not a big LOTR fan)

1:1:

Scar Bio
Celtic Bio

Hope those are good choices

And I was only going to get Indy...Look what happened...

Yeah that's about how it works with PF's. That Blackbeard looks to be an awesome one to have.
