Those women think the are entitled or something. If they were around 200 years ago they would not be saying that. Of course 200 years ago we would have hot mary jane statues to look at.

I have emailed this article to a couple of radio talk shows hosts maybe they will comment on it.

I feel insane reading some of those posts although the ones from the fellow FREAKS are really good. We're definitely dealing with Podcasting materials here. I'm surprised she latched on to the MJ version and not the Emma version.....I guess the laundry and the pearls tipped those scales. I love how this is the most offensive thing out there right now...... :google

I think the comments are hilarious. Some people really hate this statue, man wait till they find out about AH! He's going to need a legal defense fund. I'd help him out. The picture of Spidey in his thong doing the laundry is pretty funny as well. I'm sure there is a market for that as well...

I feel bad for Sideshow, though. I thought that they only had to put up with us Freaks and our whining. I guess they have to put up with whining from non-interested parties as well.

If it were Marvel or DC, they would probably cancel the line. I hope Sideshow does not succumb to this as well. They need our money, right? Right?

Hey guys, I know "most" of you are just kidding around, but could we please keep the comments civil. There is no need to add fuel to their fire...

Im glad Sideshow moderates what they put up on their comments sections or they would be 1000's of them under the announcement for her. A few of them got through but Im sure that whoever is moderating as probably got a few great comments about this statue.

Anyway at least Sideshow may get some press out of there ranting about this statue which is always good. :D

I only hope Sideshow can eventually do a Slave Leia and a Arena Padme in the same type of style of these commiquettes I would buy one but I think right now GG has the rights to those type things.

I was banned after 3 posts:lol

I read through 3/4s of the comments (I gotta work sometime) and only one mentioned the Emma Frost and said "it wasn't half as degrading" as the Mary Jane.

This indicated to me that "I just don't get it." (Hear that girls? Quote me accurately now). Because the ACTUAL COLLECTORS of these statues who posted in the past, seemed to be more bothered by Emma's presentation than MJ's. But the devildoll "critics" seem to be bothered by the pose of MJ, her pearls, her ripped jeans, and the fact that she is doing laundry.

Whatever. Just as long as no one intercepts my Sideshow MJ package before it gets to me here, I'll be happy with my exclusive and my ignorance. :maul

And your lack of ability to spell ignorance. hehe

Just bugging you. :p

Would have been funnier had I said, you're also ignorant in your spelling of ignorance but you replied before I could edit it! Dammit!

In the end, we'll all get a good chuckle out of this. The whole MJ statue fuss that is.

Nah, I'm igonorant about my terrible typing.

I love this line:

And an irate Canadian lass blogged, "I'd like a statue of Spider-Man doing his own damn laundry ... This is the worst thing I have ever seen."

Somebody better get Ms. Hyperbole a newspaper, quick!

I'm gonna have to agree with those people(although i don't care as much as they do and am not as "outraged".)The statue is based on sex appeal no matter what anyone says, and they know certain geeky fanboyzzzz will help them make them a profit on it.

I've always hated it when companys do this.(lotta SW collectible companys do it with leia and A. secura)And i will never buy em.It's not to say they are not fun once in a while, but it's something i can do without.

My favorite one read so far:

Oh what a lovely lesson for the kids.

"You too can grow up to be a superhero and have an unnaturally proportioned, scantly clad woman do your laundry.

What...you're a girl? Oh, sorry. Well, the best you can hope for is to grow up and have huge *** which will make the boys like you and let you do their housework."

*sigh*

This is really comical and what is more so is that they are serious....

It's sad really. This statue is based on a comic book character. Comic books are based on sheer fantasy. Fantasy is fiction, not fact. People need to wake up and see that this isn't the first time this has happened and it most certainly will not be the last. We see it on TV, in the theatre, on the big screen, in magazines, video games, the list goes on. Also, it's not just women that have been made into fantasies. Men are attacked too. Look at Tarzan for instance, he swings from vines wearing nothing but a loincloth. You don't see us males outraged by it.

I guess it's the whole washing the clothes bit that has people more upset rather than what she's actually wearing. But people need to get over themselves. In the scheme of things there are much worse things happening in the world, like soldiers dying over seas, people dying from disease and starvation, change in our weather climate for the worse, or better yet, issues happening within each and everyone's family.

In the end, it may not be on the level of being tasteful, but there are much bigger things on a MUCH larger scope that deserve the attention, that this particular piece has received and doesn't deserve. If someone gets easily outraged by something like this, I would hate to see how they react to something at a much larger grander scale.

*heads for cover when that happens*

i am surprised washing clothes is so offensive. Sometimes I wash my clothes, and throw in some of my boyfriend's. Sometimes he does some of my laundry; its called a partnership. We help each other out.

Just because there isn't a companion statue showing Peter making dinner while MJ folds some clothes doesn't mean it isn't going on.

Personally I don't understand why MJ had to be washing clothes in that scene! I mean, whoever heard of a table with just one leg! :lol :lol

Seriously though, things get blown out of proportion because someone decides to put a skew to it. We all know better that this is an AH! line, and that if we look at the bigger picture, we'd understand better.

For now, if AH!/Sideshow had made MJ wearing just her thong and the Spidey shirt instead, I still would've bought it. I thought I saw an AH! rendition of that somewhere. I'm just happy as peach that AH! collaborated with Sideshow and that his artwork and Sideshow's sculpt can be immortalized.

Makes me wonder if AH! should've checked with the livingdolls website first to make his sketches politically correct . . . . NOT!
