Look at the differences in this picture. What happened to the nose and mouth? The nose looks elongated and pointy. The lips looks thinner and mouth is wider. The eyes lack any realism and intensity. The eyebrows are way off too.

The proto has a strong intense look to the face where the final product isn't even close.

Maybe it needs different lighting to look better? :lol

I don't like that at all. The hair application and eyes look awful. And why is the inside of his nose black? I don't know, maybe it's just that guy's pics. :dunno

It looks OK in my opinion. I'm sure it's not much different than the proto in person other than the lashes and brows and some other minor things. But OK doesn't cut it for a 2k piece. It should be perfect. Now I don't own any cinemaquettes personally, but from what I see in pics, aside from the Predator and some other non human pieces, they all pretty much range from just OK to pretty terrible (Indiana Jones likeness). I don't know why people continue to support their half assed efforts, especially for so much money. Just my two cents.

Too many unreasonable haters here - not posting pics.

Come on Dave...post some better pictures and prove the "haters" wrong.

It could be a bad batch of first in hand pictures but no one will know if there are no more pictures to compare it to.

I don't think people are being unreasonable for a $2k statue based on those pictures.

There should be no bad batches period for that price. From what I've seen so far that doesn't warrant that price tag.

Hey everyone, I have been a long time lurker here and an even longer time collector of statues, prop replicas, toys, etc. When this statue was first, announced, I could not wait to purchase it-I put aside a certain $ amount every week to cover the cost. Now mind you, I have done this before and am not afraid to spend on items in this price range when it is warranted-the MR Millennium Falcon which I am a very proud owner of-is a great example to me. After seeing proto type photos of this, I became hesitant in pre ordering. Well, after the 30 or so photos of the in hand piece on chocolatebydeath.com., I can honestly say that this is a big pass for me. The original Superman:The Movie holds a special place in my heart as it does for everyone else on this board, and I think it is a crime that DC, Cinenemaquette, or whoever cannot give us collectors and the Reeve family a worthy representation of this film and character. The only positive is that I have saved a good amount of money to spend on some other pieces that I have been putting on the back burner because of this atrocity that Cinemaquette has produced. I hope Hot Toys, Bobby C., and Phil FX give this character the honor and respect it deserves.

I'm sorry, but as a longtime Christopher Reeve fan, that statue looks so wrong on so many levels. The face is wrong, the body proportions are wrong, the skin tone is terrible, the hair is awful, the whole thing is just awful....and to think it costs $2K is a cruel joke.

It's not a matter of hating or being unreasonable, it's simply making an honest assessment of the quality of the work. For the price it should be spot on. It's not even remotely close. If I didn't know it ws a CM statue, I'd guess at first glance it was the upcoming Mattel action figure.

admittedly the pics on CBD don't help sell it. But every single CM looks better in hand than in any pics. I think their Sparrow is one of the best likenesses ever, but people even rag on that one from pics.

Well said. An excellent first post - let's hear more from you.

All the pieces based on humans have been off. The best Cinamaquetts so far have been the non-humans ie. Pred, T-800, T-X and the Alien, hands down.

I've never seen a CM human piece that looked good in photos... and sadly I've never seen any in person. But consistently the finished product has an odd sickly look to it.

Some aspects of this look great, but have to agree the total package is underwhelming.
