Were you there? I don't recall seeing you in the room when I removed the jacket so I think your attempt at a precise description is null and void. Move along.

Yes, I am indeed a perfectionist and strive for perfection in the things that I add to my collection. So far, this has resulted in a very satisfying collection for me with items that are for the most part, very close replicas of their film used counterparts.

No amount of personal insults that you attempt to throw at me can take away the quite shockingly bad appearance that the CM Superman has.

All of the people I know who admired Chris Reeve's portrayal of Superman have decided NOT to purchase the CM for the very same reasons I have stated. Bobby C has shown what is possible to achieve at 1:3 scale. Cinemaquette could certainly learn a thing or two from him but I guess since you banned him from your forum, they won't get the benefits of his artistic skills first hand. Enjoy your Superman-esque statue when it arrives.

All the best.

Chris

I think "removal" is being kind. "Cak-handed hack job" may have been more precise.

Darklord Dave's looks better. Did you have to trim eyelashes or brows?

I would really like to see one carefully lit and photographed.

No I saw the picture you posted of the results. The ones with the huge cut up the centre of the jacket. I even followed the resulting auction, and watched you take the circa £500 hit.

Still it's like Oscar Wilde once wrote "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."

I admired Chris Reeve's portrayal. That's why I'm happy to pick the piece up and add my weight to the Reeve foundation donation.

Does that make your point null and void?

The sculpt is the same, the hair is a bit different.

I'm confused...

Which of these looks like yours:

SUPERMAN090.jpg

Because clearly these ^^ aren't the same...

This one looks like kind of like the one on the right:

And this one looks more like the one on the left.

Am I wrong? :huh

I think it looks pretty decent ..... congrats, Dave. If you're happy with it thats all that matters. Btw nice setup, your collectible room looks very classy.

I accept that, and I'm not trying to be obtuse.

Are you saying that these two are the same?

Or are you saying something else. I guess the apparent difference between those could be caused by the one on the right being taken with a wide angle lens... but the mouth and nose really look different.

I'd really love to see Jay shoot this. I'm just not feeling the false sensation of this plasticky skin tone. It's throwing my whole view off this.

Why does it look like this:
Instead of this::huh :huh :huh

They look like 2 different sculpts. Both good, but different. One's a prototype?

Are you seriously confused?:thud:

Having had a piece of unused, unfaded ORIGINAL fabric from the batch that was custom woven for Reeve's costumes, I can tell you without any shadow of a doubt that the "Royal Blue" colour chosen by CM is WAY off. They most definitely did NOT get "as close as someone could" because my own research for my lifesize costume replica resulted in some fabric that was almost exactly the same color (just not the same weave texture). It's out there if you bother to look for it. CM's is really not even close. I have also seen the original and authenticated Reeve costume owned by Propstore of London (which was exactly the same colour as the unused fabric that I was allowed to borrow for a few months) and neither of those were faded because when photographed, they are exactly the same colour as the costumes that we see in the many photos taken of Reeve in costume.

I spoke at length with the late Noel Howard (formerly of Bermans and Nathans costume company in London) and he told me that he was the person who convinced costume designer Yvonne Blake that the custom woven fabric was the way to go for Reeve's costume. He also authenticated the aforementioned Propstore of London costume and told me that the fabric I had was the real deal and not faded (because it had been carefully stored and kept out of sunlight for nearly 30 years).

CM's costume person clearly didn't put enough effort into the design, colouring and fabrication of this. The yellow "S" shield on the cape is way off which really surprises me considering they were given access to a HI-RES photo of an original cape shield. It's really sad that with all of the resource and access to original costumes at their fingertips, they totally screwed this up. The head is way off and the costume is poor.

I made the mistake of buying the CM Indiana Jones - hoping that it was just the lighting in the pics I'd seen which made it look bad. When I opened it up and saw how terrible the face was, I put it straight back in the box and sold it the next day. No amount of good lighting can save this. It's just not very good. The sculptor of the head didn't want to be associated with it after someone else tweaked his work and I can see why.

Chris
Just putting my two sense in the fire.. CK you know what your talking about. I wanted this to be a great piece but it turned out to be a BIG disapointment. That being said If it was a statue being sold for 150 at the most then I would purchase it.. But really to pay 2gs not worth it.. In fact I am checking with the Better Business B to see if any laws were broken... Pun clearly intended.... I wish they would have put half the effort that CK puts into his projects. Nuff said...

Like everyone else has said, Dave's pics do look better, but I'd like to see some close-up shots from him. To me the nose still looks different. And the eyes should have been so much better. In the pics from last year's comic-con they look like glass.

I was shocked by that pic too - but looking at mine and examining my pics and others of the prototype, I'm convinced that the sculpt has not changed.

As I've said before, CMs are very susceptible to not looking their best in any photos.

I took that picture guys and trust me , in person it looks like the one on the right except for the eyes and hair I am workin on the hair as we speak and changing the curl, and if you notice the one on the left has many shadows which I have no idea on how to achieve that with my cheap ass cybershot

Your camera is not the problem you will need to get a professional photographer to get close to what CM did, but after looking at the bone structure of the face is going to be difficult. hope i am wrong....:dunno

this is actually the one from the comicon last year, which is more of a rugged older version, and not the one in the proto pics, i actually liked this older looking one.
