Clearly there is something up with Harrison Ford and Star Wars and Disney and Hot Toys. Been a slew of Lukes and Leias... but no Hans.

What year was the last Ford likeness product out from Hot Toys? Has there been a Harrison Ford likeness in any licensed toys in that same time?

This shipped within the last 3 months... and that's definitely a HF likeness.

That's actually a really good point. I feel like Ford Solo products have been very few and far between. He's done a very few autograph signings since his last HT figure but it feels like a long while since the last major high end licensed product.

I think 2017 or so might be the last year. That was when the Hot Toys Stormtrooper Han came out and when the Sideshow Han Premium Format statue went up for order.

Not counting Hasbro, which has released a few Han figures.

Maybe the entanglement is with Hasbro then.

Its always hard to know where actual likeness rights are required. Hasbro has them already. I never thought they needed them for 3 inch figures. 6 inch might slide by on that same clause. 1/6th is a whole different entity. Perhaps that's why the push for 6 inch? I don't know, just proposing... maybe someone here knows. That Black Series Han looks like Ford to me... but it is caricature enough that maybe it slides past the likeness requirements OR fits within the already approved likenesses.

Meaning maybe Hasbro has pre-approval within a certain range of toys as long as it pays its basic fee or something.

.

From my understanding, at least in cases with certain actors and companies, pre-approved sculpts are available for the company to produce whenever where they would need the actor's approval for any new sculpts.

Edited: And in cases with actors who are done with certain franchises, they could be difficult on giving an answer or simply refuse.

Edited: I'm curious if they needed Hayden Christensen's approval for The Clone Wars Anakin. Isn't the only difference the hair?

What I wanna know is, how is it that Cara Dune has been pulled from every figure line including Funko Pops, but her premium format Sideshow statue is still available for pre-order.

I'm guessing it has to do with all the NRDs being paid and Sideshow's development costs along with potential lost profits. Plus a $600 statue is a more niche thing compared to the cheaper figures. I sure hope it doesn't get canceled and I suspect it won't as Sideshow has continued taking preorders throughout this entire fiasco. They even "hid" it on their website for awhile before bringing it back into search results.

I thought the solo movie was the delay for other Han figures. But those all shipped and we got all excited when the bespin leia pics appeared, then nothing. I wish hot toys would just tell us. We cannot produce Harrison Ford figures right now.
Instead, every winter soldier, Two face, spider man, Wanda, and so on drives some is crazy that it is not bespin han.
Add C3po to that list too.

I don?t think we?ll get anything for a while. Full steam ahead with Marvel at the moment and other than Bad Batch, no new Star Wars shows until the end of the year.

I suppose we may get a surprise character from Bad Batch, but I suspect that would need to be a character we?ve met before.

Maybe it?ll give HT chance to finally give us C-3PO, Bespin Han or a Biker Scout.

They went wild, by Hot Toys? standards, for May 4th last year, so hopefully they will again. If I remember correctly they announced the Clone Wars line, a 40th anniversary line, teased Rex, re-issued ESB Vader, and announced Vintage Boba Fett.

This year could see them do something similar with the Bad Batch. Regardless of whether or not they feature in the Bad Batch, you?d have to think they have a bunch of clone variants ready to go, and that show gives them an excuse to tick some off the list.

So, my guess would be Mando Luke, and perhaps another couple of Mando figures to tide us over to May. Then CW Obi-Wan, the 212th, Wolffe, Fox etc. starting from May 4th onwards for a couple of months.

Yeah I have to think it's the fact that Sideshow has shipped zero of those figures. Hasbro had already done a full initial release of Cara figures for the first season. They cancelled figures that weren't in production, so many preorders were cancelled but not all. A buddy had TVC Cara figure come into their Pile of Loot a week or two ago. So it's not like they destroyed everything, just cancelled future runs. Sideshow hasn't made any money on their Cara statue yet and I'm sure Hasbro was already positive on the Cara Dune investment for both BS and TVC given the carbonized and credit collection versions of both.

A guy who works in the business for Disney indicated that it's Ford in some way. I know we all think Ford and everyone had signed away everything in '77 because that's what's been said over and over again, but there absolutely has to be a reason starting with Ford to cause the issue of no new figures. Who knows, he could've renegotiated the deal when The Force Awakens happened. There's no movie without Han Solo so he had literally ALL the leverage when discussing his contract. There is no way that Hot Toys wants to be sitting here without more than 2 OT Han Solo figures by their own choice. Just think about how many more Bespin Leia figures would've been sold if Bespin Han was around. It could be what's potentially holding up an ESB Chewbacca too.

I believe Disney's contracts are different because it applies to the Marvel cast as well.

Well I meant it the other way, there's only 2 Hans with the ANH and Stormtrooper. There's no way they don't want a Hoth, Bespin, and Endor/General Solo figures (that's it right? Disheveled post-carbonite Han?). The companion pieces for the Bespin and Endor are already made besides Chewie, and we've got Snowspeeder Luke on the way, but I'd buy a Hoth Luke just as fast.

My ANH display looks just fine without Bespin Han. AND I save $250. :)

I'm still betting on Ahsoka... black-cloaked Luke... and the v3 Mando up next.

Given that v2 Mando is being pushed into the summer, the odds for Luke and Ahsoka rise greatly.

Luke Skywalker has been canceled. Kennedy's Lucasfilm is deeply offended that Star Wars fans loved The Mandalorian finale and hate their pet rock and asexual pilot.

I'm still shocked that deep-kissing his sister is acceptable in this day and age.

And what about Boss Ford forcing himself upon Leia while she's trying to work?

Forget that, Lucasfilm needs to apologize for inflicting "Somehow.... Palpatine has returned" on us.
