Tarkin, Krennic, Gideon...really?
Gideon wasn't dressed in a standard Imperial uniform, but something bespoke to make himself look specal. That's why I eventually cancelled my pre-order.
So it's down to Tarkin and Krennic for Hot Toys. All the way back to Sideshow for Praji and Piett.
Between them there's examples of the naval, stormtrooper and security versions of the officer uniform, but it's very slim pickings for all the years that 1/6 Star Wars figures have been made.
Now we've reached the time of
really silly money for licensed figures Hot Toys are likely pricing a lot of collectors out of anything but the big name characters. So Howard will also be weighing up the cost of smaller runs for lesser characters, and will be saying, "Nope."
Not even the Death Star Trooper they already prototyped. Yet they can release silly Inquisitors for silly money because they're Disney's flavour of the week. In wine terminology the Inquisitors are cheap plonk for vintage prices. I'd be more inclined to pay the higher prices for characters with an actual vintage.
There comes a time when, even if you can afford things, it just doesn't feel right paying the price asked. Especially so for brand new characters, because Disney can keep creating those every day. I talked myself into buying Cobb Vanth before he was up for pre-order, but I think I've pretty much talked myself out him now.
I might wait for the 2.0 version with the cybernetic arm with push button quick draw action and no Fett armour.
