My NFC/AFC Championship Picks
(4-0 WC round, 2-2 Divisional round, 6-2 overall)

San Francisco at Atlanta (San Francisco) - Jim Harbaugh vs. Mike Smith. 'Nuff said!

Baltimore at New England (New England) - Heart wants Baltimore in the worst way but alas, another trip to the Super Bowl for the Patriots. *sigh*

I'm honestly worried that the 49ers are such heavy favorites (it seems to me). Hope they don't go into Atlanta thinking that way. Having said that, when they don't shoot themselves in the foot or come out totally flat, they have the most upside of any of the team left. When the 49ers are rolling, they are downright scary.

The Ravens/Pats is really a coin-flip for me. Something about the Ravens just always gives the Pats problems, no matter how impressive New England has looked the week before. And Baltimore's offense is pretty high-class. My heart still says the Pats eek it out.

While I agree that Jim Harbaugh has already proven himself to be a football wizard (heck, he accomplished that at Stanford before he even went to SF) and would take him over Mike Smith in a heartbeat, Smith isn't exactly chopped liver. In 5 years he's already the winningest HC in franchise history and the only one to ever lead the Falcons to back-to-back winning seasons. Of course, ATL has had some pretty crappy teams over the years, but this is a solid accomplishment nonetheless. They've also won more regular season games than any other team over the past 3 years and set a record for least penalized team in league history. He's a fine coach. His biggest flaw (other than not having won a playoff game before last week) is that he probably has too much faith in his OCs. There have been some really, really bad offensive calls under this regime.

Honestly, I don't know how to predict this game. I can see it going in a myriad of different ways, including the solid SF win most seem to expect. Should be interesting.

Probably because if the Niners D can do what they do to most teams Ryan is in for a long day. Atlanta is the #1 seed but top to bottom I think the Niners are the better team.

Of course the playoffs are much different... but "any given Sunday...".

This is still the same 49ers team that tied and lost to the Rams. And the same Falcons team that utterly depantsed the Giants and ruined their season.

Of course, it's also the same 49ers team that went into New England and won and destroyed Green Bay last week, and the same Falcons team that looked like an expansion team against Carolina. Twice.

Who knows which team(s) will show up. :lol

I'm picking the Ravens and Niners this weekend.

But if I were a betting man, I'd take the 3.5 - 5 points with the Falcons.

I'm guessing this game to be a 1-2 point spread.
