He is to loyal to the team and the area and he is too old to get a contract large enough for him to leave that city. I am just speculating but I bet he stays. Its not like he needs a ring so bad he will play for peanuts. If he gets a 1 year deal anywhere but Baltimore I'll be surprised.

And the Pats fill the slot receiver position quickly signing Danny Amendola to a 5 year deal.

I don't love it, but don't hate it. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

Glad the Pats did something. If he's healthy, it should be a good deal. He's no Wes Welker...but it's better than having Edelman in the slot.

I gotta say I'm going to miss Welker in NE. Wished the Pats would've resigned him...but I really think the bitterness got to Wes where he was going to take the best offer on the table from another team. Denver is going to be dangerous with a Manning-Welker combo.

Not sure Wes Welker was Wes Welker in Miami. I think Brady was a big reason he is what he is now.

The best offer he had was 2/18 last off-season and he didn't take it. This new contract with Denver is 2/12, but fully guaranteed so I understand why he took it.

I hope he does well, except against the Pats, though I'm sure he's salivating at the thought of Spikes and Mayo trying to cover him.:monkey4

Welker will be fine in Denver, especially with Thomas and Decker on the outside. If some GM signed him to be a #1 receiver on the outside, then that would be stupid.

The issue with Amendola, as pointed out, is his ability to stay healthy. I think he's missed like 20 games in the last two years. He was initially a I drafted free agent with Dallas, and hopes were high for him, especially since Dallas hadn't had a decent #3/slot receiver since Patrick Crayton. But he has durability issues.

Welker wanted that big payday he thought he rightfully earned during his time with New England. He wasn't happy when the Pats franchised him last year and people were worried that he was going to hold out. Wes winded up signing the franchise tag although he made it clear that he was upset & didn't want to be franchised following the 2012-2013 season...Season started up this year. Welker didn't see as many plays early on until a Hernandez injury? I just think he felt disrespected and the bitterness never fully went away.

Yup, losing Welker is a big loss. Wes wasn't bitter. The Pats had the opportunity to match Denver's offer and they declined! Unbelievable!
Then they give more $$ to Amendola who doesn't know our system and is injured a lot (Welker only missed 3 games in the 6 years he was here).

Um, I think Manning will make Welker look good. Sure, his best days are behind him, but he will still be a solid contributor to the Broncos.
