Sports - He Shoots, He Scores! Americans Still See Michael Jordan as the Greatest Sports Star of All Time

They have Joe Montana as the GOAT of the NFL and Brady second. Wrong. Joe isn't the GOAT. Brady is. Better stats, more Super Bowls with less talent. It is not even an argument.

Here is the real joke, Michael Jordan as the greatest sports star of all time. Nope, sorry. Babe Ruth is. He carried a nation on his shoulders in its darkest times and still managed to produce home runs. Plus he was a top five pitcher to!

They are 100% a matter of opinion. Different rules, different opponents, different stadiums... stats can't tell the entire story.

I disagree. There is always quality of opponents and stadiums have nothing to do with a "who is greater" argument.

Brady is the 11th most sacked QB of all time and only sustained one major injury from the dirty Bernard Pollard who should be banned from the league. Brady consistently plays through injuries. Saying he cries like a baby is wrong. He fared pretty well against one of the toughest and historically best defenses of all time last year, I don't see what LT could do to him.

If anything, the level of competition during Brady's era is higher than it was in Montana's era.

As far as the rules arguments go, the defense had favorable rules back then. In fact, the 49ers ranked 3rd, 8th, 1st, 2nd in Team Defense and in a majority of top ten categories in each Super Bowl winning year. I think the biggest difference is, even though the Patriots had eerily similar rankings in Brady's year as a Super Bowl winners (in Team Defense 8th, 2nd, 1st, 6th), Brady actually faced the tougher defense's in the Super Bowl and led his team on every game winning drive of each. Brady faced teams ranked 7th, 10th, 3rd, 1st in team defense where as Montana faced teams ranked 12th, 7th, 16th, and 1st.

More passing yards, more passing touchdowns, more Super Bowl trips all with less Hall of Fame talent while being the sole force to carry a team year after year on game winning drives (and having his team leading in the final minutes of the two losses) carries over more than a guy with less passing yards, less passing touchdowns, less Super Bowl trips all with more Hall of Fame talent. Despite the differing rules, the Brady vs Montana argument is no more. Brady is the perfect mix of stats and rings, he is the GOAT.

No, you stated your opinion. Players in different eras can't be truly judged against each other. Then you claim a player from a different sport is the greatest athlete ever. It's simply your OPINION. It's my opinion that Jim Thorpe is the greatest athlete ever.....at least arguably. No one is taking aNY thing away from your precious Brady, but he plays in a different Era than Montana. Some would argue Marino was better, but his team never won. Some argue for Elway or Manning. It's subjective and opinion weather you want to admit it or not. Trent Dilfer won a SB, but was he better than Marino? No. Eli has won 2 to Peyton's 1, but has been a better NFL QB over his career? No. Please don't claim rings are all that matters.

4-2 is a greater accomplishment than 4-0, especially when Brady was two lucky plays away from 6-0.

I find it funny that the same isn't said about Montana more often. I don't think it's really a knock to say that in many ways Montana was a product of Bill Walsh's WCO system.

As far as 4-0 vs. 4-2 I do find it funny that getting there and losing is seen as worse than not getting there at all. In the end they both had further SB wins thwarted by the Giants. Montana's just came a game early.

Cant you say that all great QB's are a product of their system? Put a prime Manning or Brady in cleveland or the 06 raiders as an extreme example, and I guarantee it would be a disaster.

Good QB's are good to have, but without a good system around them, youre not getting rings.
