That rookie Vander Esch has totally revamped the Dallas defense

You know one thing that Dallas does well..they draft good, we have to give them credit despite Garrett

Prescott..Zeke and now the missing piece ..Vander Esch ( reminds me of a young Urlacher..a white dude that tackles hard ) :horror

The future is getting better for Cowboys :lecture

Dallas’ best bet is too shorten the game and control the clock. Of course, New Orleans knows this as well, and will take away Zeke Elliot by stacking the box and making Dak beat them.

It would be very eerie if the Saints are driving for the winning score and Demarcus Lawrence strip sacks Brees to preserve a win a la Demarcus Ware in 2009, one of my favorite Cowboys memories, when Dallas went on the road to New Orleans and ended the Saints win streak. Would be nice if history repeated itself...but I’m not too optimistic.

Didn't the Saints win the SB that year? I'm sure that the Saints wouldn't mind if history repeats. This was a great game. I'm a HUGE fan of defensive football. I love it when every inch is earned on the football field. This was a hard fought game and a BIG win for the Cowboys.

What do the Cowboys do with Sean Lee? No way I'd take Vander Esch off the field. Looks like Lee will be a cap casualty at the end of the year.

Let him go..he gets injured too much..Vander Esch on D is the reason Dallas is winning now when Zeke and Prescott aren’t dominating the game

Cooper is a nice pick up as well

Yeah, that's why I think he'll be a cap casualty when the season ends. That said, I wouldn't put him back in the starting lineup. Vander Esch is playing out of his mind right now.

Well, Vander Esch is the first defensive player to make an immediate impact as a rookie. Demarcus Lawrence took two seasons to develop. Randy Gregory, a first round talent with a tenth round mindset (yes, I know there aren’t ten rounds in the NFL talent) was a second round pick who nearly cost Dallas the game last night. Taco Charlton hasn’t made much of an impact.

Dallas has done better with their offensive picks. Obviously Zeke and Dak, but Pro Bowl offensive lineman Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, and Travis Frederick (hope he makes it back on the field somehow), and even La’el Collins, who after being projected as a first round pick, went undrafted.

And their first round pick at WR in future drafts, Amari Cooper, looks pretty good as well. :lol

Dallas has the pulse on Boise State players, though: Demarcus Lawrence, Pro Bowl defensive end; Tyrone Crawford, starting defensive lineman; Leighton Vander Esch, starting Mike linebacker; Kellen Moore, back up QB...Orlando Scandrick, now with the Kansas City Chiefs, was the nickel cornerback for Dallas for many years and a Boise State Bronco as well.

Yep, I love a hard fought, defensive game. And yes, that was the year New Orleans won it all. Dallas was 11-5 and the third seed, and beat Philly in the wild card game. I absolutely thought they would go into Minnesota and win, but no one on Dallas remembered to block Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards and got crushed. NO won the Super Bowl after advancing in the infamous Bountygate game where Favre stupidly threw a pick when the Vikings were in field goal range.

And I agree, the Saints would love a repeat of that season, result wise, this year.

What do the Cowboys do with Sean Lee? No way I'd take Vander Esch off the field. Looks like Lee will be a cap casualty at the end of the year.

Sean Lee is one of the most underrated defensive players in the NFL, and a game changer, but he can’t stay healthy. He always has an hamstring injury. So, most likely he will be a cap casualty. And unless you’re the New England Patriots, th Los Angeles Rams have shown the current NFL model; if you have a dynamic QB on a rookie deal, you surround him with talent on both sides of the ball; the Rams got Brandin Cooks on offense, and on defense, got Suh, and traded for Marcus Peters and Aquib Talib...not to mention re-signing Aaron Donald. And they tried to make a move for Khalil Mack for a one year mercenary deal.

And while by no means would I consider Dak Prescott and elite QB, various analytics have shown that he is currently the BEST value at QB in the NFL when considering production and cap hit (remember, Prescott is on a 4th round pick rookie contract versus Goff’s overall #1 pick).

Having said all that, Lee is slated to return in Dallas next game, and it’ll be interesting to see Lee, Vander Esch, and Jaylon Smith on the field together (sorry, Damien Wilson)...all FAST and speedy linebackers.

Don’t throw in the towel for Saints yet. Only two losses but Rams have a challenging schedule, but the Saints still have to play Panthers twice so who knows if the road will go through L.A. or LA . :dunno

Either way , the NFC have the advantage with SoCal weather or the Dome for the playoffs as opposed to the AFC who will probably tackle horrible cold weather in either KC or Boston :lecture

I'm still on the Saints bandwagon. However, they have to have home field for the playoffs. Look at what happens when they play road playoff games. Losses to the 9ners, Seahawks, Bears, and Vikes that I can remember off the top of my head. Drew has even played well in most of those games but something always goes wrong and the Saints blow the game. Even when they played solid D against the Vikes they got hit with a miracle finish against them and lost. The Saints NEED home field advantage for the entire NFC playoffs to get to the SB. History has not been kind to the Saints where road playoff games are concerned. The year they did win it all they had home field. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Lee is a Will linebacker. He can't play the Sam spot. He'd have to play on the strong side and set an edge against multiple offensive blockers and the tight end. That's a physical position to play for a guy who gets hurt a lot. So, Lee would have to go back to the Will spot and then Vander Esch would have to move to the Sam position to have have Lee, Smith, and Vander Esch on the field. The Will and Sam position are not the same. I don't know if you want to move a rookie into a different position he may not be used to playing. I'll be interested in seeing whatever Dallas decides to do when Lee is healthy again.

So it looks like TMZ blew the whistle on Kareem Hunt, the Chiefs, and the NFL. Let’s sit back and watch what Honest Roger does in this latest case.....

I see it as if they can beat the Panthers in the first of the two final meetings ( because the second Panthers matchup , more than likely be Peyton resting the Saints starters ) they will at least get a bye and that should help.

The difference this time if Saints lose HFA and have to be on the road, like I hinted, if they go through L.A. the weather will definitely help them as opposed to the conditions they went through playing on the road in the playoffs in the Brees era with the exception of playing in Atlanta dome so many times .

I see it will either be Saints or Rams claiming HFA , because the Rams are finally getting Talib back , so their defense will definitely get stronger down the stretch, but Saints defense should hold..I think because of bad officiating and a prepared Dallas defense made a huge impact of last nights loss. Dallas offense didn’t dominate the game, the defense won it.

Despite the loss last week, Panthers could still be a huge threat to Saints HFA hopes, but Rams have to play Seattle in Seattle .

So Saints could still get HFA if they can beat Carolina, but they shouldn’t sleep on Atlanta ( eventhough Falcons are out of the playoffs) they can always play spoilers for Saints . :lecture

They won a playoff game in Philly (cold) a few years back. Playing one game in say LA isn't the end of the world.

You mean the Bucs? They've beaten ATL twice already. Last 4 games are : Bucs, Panthers, Steelers, Panthers

Yeah sorry ..forgot, never mind about that then, but you never know Bucs flash sometimes if Winston has a good game .

I forgot about Steelers :panic: uh oh now that loss to Dallas really made a difference
