After last week when ALL of the analysts picked the Cowboys(99%) it just vaulted my already skewed opinion of them as "weathermen".

Trent Dilfer picked the Cowboys to WIN the SB just last week as did many others. (i can proudly say i NEVER bought into the Cowboys flavor of the month hype, even some fans bought the media hype)

/shakes head.

To Jedimike, Fox has the rights to show NFC games throughout the regular season, and CBS shows the AFC games, so I don't think that local affiliate ownership plays much of a role, but I don't know for sure.

And I wasn't referring to the guys who do the pre-game, half-time, and post-game shows in my previous post so much as in-game commentators. With CBS, at least the guys seem to know what they are talking about half the time. With Fox, they get these guys I've never heard of before, and they often just talk out of their rears saying nonsense (I used to turn down the volume and turn on 870 AM with the great Jim Henderson during Saints games, but there is a delay here, and I don't like hearing what happens before I see it on TV). I do like Brian Billick when he does Saints games, though.

Fox's productions just seem like less money/talent was used across the board to me, though.

Well there is a reason why the CBS guys will be better then the FOX guys for a lot of the games.

On CBS you will never get the B and C crews, you will always one of A crews of announcers. But on Fox because you will always get the Saints game you will not always have the top crew announcing, the top crew will be at the national games. I had the same issue with CBS because we would have the crappy crew for Chargers games since they werent the national game for CBS.

Hi karamazov. I love the WWL 870 AM/105.3 FM radio team of Jim Henderson and Hokie Gajan. I'd play their great audio commentary for every game. I usually watch all of the Saints games at my in-law's on a nice LG 46-47" LCD TV. Much bigger than my non-LCD 32" TV. They (specifically my mother-in-law ) doesn't like to hear the radio commentators during the game on TV. So we don't play it. Yeah, there is a slight delay, but Jim Henderson's spirited commentary makes me smile. :D You can tell he really loves the Saints like we do, and it shows! Hokie Gajan is a former L.S.U. and Saints running back, so we all know he loves them too. I wish there wasn't the radio delay, and we could play the radio audio commentary for every game.

As far as the commentators during the game...they could be much better. Lately I've heard a standard guy along with someone like former Cowboys QB Troy Aikman. Troy knows the game, but is kinda dull.

When the coaches do the commentary, it's better.

My favorite pair to do the game play-by-play is still Pat Summerall and John Madden. The next would be Al Michaels. He has such a cool and distinctive voice on the air that he really captures the excitement of the game.

mfoga has a good point. Saints this year often got the reject announcers for their games, and they would typically give us the "best" AFC game on CBS. I didn't think about that.

Any Duo that involves Madded quickly goes towards the bottom for me, I couldn't stand the bumbling idiot.

By the way, karamazov, Saints owner Tom Benson owns our local FOX station, WVUE FOX channel 8. So that's why the Saints games are mostly seen on the FOX channel here in the New Orleans area. Maybe Benson also owns the FOX channel in your area in Baton Rouge?

If I understand the licensing, the reason the Saints games are seen on FOX in New Orleans/Baton Rouge is because FOX owns the main NFC license, The Saints are your local team, and the games are selling out, so no black-outs.

I think there should be more journalists and less former jocks doing the "analysis," with a mix of coaches being OK. But people like to see these meat heads for some reason, I guess.

My two favorite commentators are Troy Aikman and Daryl Johnston and I ____ing hate the Cowboys.

I love when John sugarcoats his comments. :lol:lol:rotfl

It's really weird. I actually like Michael Irvin too. I couldn't stand those mother____ers when they were playing. Troy Aikman had one of my favorite responses to Joe Buck ever. Buck was gushing over Tony Romo and Jason Witten and mentioned that they were roommates on the road. He then asked Troy "Who did you room with Troy? Novacek?" Aikman then responds "I had my own room Joe.":lol:lol:lol

Dissed! :lol

Michael Irvin, I want to like him but I just can't understand him. :lol

Personally, I've never liked Joe Buck. He needs to stick to his day job, baseball, and get out of the football booth. He slurps too much. :lol

Man, am I glad the Vikes game is the second game on Sunday. The Colts/Jets is the appetizer before the main course. If the Vikes had played first and lost, then I'd be too depressed to watch the AFC game.:lol This happened to me in the '98 game when the Vikes were shocked by the Falcons. :monkey2

Although I haven't made a prediction yet, I have faith in Brett Favre a.k.a. "The Baby Cheese-Us."

Don't get me wrong, I think that some former NFL players are important to have as analysts and to bring in the players' perspective. And some (particularly Chris Collinsworth, IMO) are quite good. But guys like Keyshawn Johnson, Michael Strahan, Shannon Sharpe, and even that guy with the goatee who frequently co-hosts/guest stars on Mike and Mike are annoying to me and largely filled with little to no useful analysis. I say keep one or two, but when you've got 4 ex-players, one former coach, and some moderator sitting up there, you're missing an important perspective that a journalist or two could provide.

For Minnesota, I think for them to win, their D line is going to have to do the same thing they did to Dallas, if they cant, the Saints offensive is going to be a handful. It would defn be interesting if Favre went against the team he left last year in the Superbowl and lost :horror

Yeah, those three suck.

If our defense shows up, the game is over. The Saints won't stop our offense. But the key is our defense and over the past month they've been a no show except the

Dallas Beat Down!!!

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

Sorry, I'm still reveling in the win.

<!-- END INCLUDE news/article-tools --> Vikings hold Edwards, Kevin Williams out of practice due to injuries

NFL.com Wire Reports
Ray Edwards has emerged this season as a productive defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings, on the opposite side of All-Pro Jared Allen.
This week, the Vikings are hoping Edwards can play at full strength for the NFC championship game at New Orleans.
Edwards sustained a mildly sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee, according to NFL.com senior writer Steve Wyche, but is expected to play against the Saints. Edwards had three sacks, five quarterback hurries, eight tackles and a forced fumble in last week's playoff win over Dallas.
Edwards was held out of Wednesday's practice, as was defensive tackle Kevin Williams due to a knee injury.
Other players limited by injuries Wednesday were receiver Bernard Berrian (ankle), guard Steve Hutchinson (shoulder), linebacker Ben Leber (knee) and Antoine Winfield (foot).

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards is working hard to get his right knee healthy enough to play in the NFC Championship Game at New Orleans.

Edwards was held out of Wednesday's practice because of the injury.
He was hurt in the third quarter of last week's playoff win over Dallas, after recording three sacks, five quarterback hurries, eight tackles and a forced fumble. Edwards spent eight hours in the training room getting treatment on Wednesday. He says his knee is "good."
All-Pro defensive tackle Kevin Williams was also held out of practice because of a knee injury.
