My take on the whole Kolb thing is sure he looked good as a backup last year but playing as a backup QB is much easier then as a starter. There is not the same pressure ,plus you aren't asked to do the same things as backup as a starter. Look at how many backups have a few good games but fail as a starter.

This whole thing is still a crock of shat. The Eagles payed their so called starter $12.5 mil to play 17 plays.

What a waste of time and money. They should have at least started him this Sunday. AT THE MINIMUM. It was a perfect opportunity to see what he had and see how he handled coming back. They are playing a lesser opponent as well.

Look,if they play Kolb and he sucks it up again, they are stuck going with Vick the rest of the year. You continue with Vick and as soon as he struggles Kolb is back in and you dont have to face the media and fan bombardment. I think its win win for the Eagles, and teh right decision

If Vick struggles and they immediately put Kolb back in, you get more confusion as to who the team leader is supposed to be (people will expect Kolb to be on another short leash), you start getting team members taking sides, the fans get even more frustrated and rowdy, etc.

If they stuck with Kolb and he sucked, they should still stick with him if they think he is the future and needs time to develop, etc. If they aren't confident of that and are willing to pull him later if he sucks, then you are back to the same situation I described above.

This isn't college. In the NFL, you really need a single QB. I think the decision to waffle is a bad one, and makes Reid look bad, but they can overcome that by at least sticking with Vick for the foreseeable future. If they pull him out after another 2 games or whatever, then people are gonna start losing serious confidence in the way things are run there.

I think Reid's been spoiled having such a single, good QB for so long in McNabb, and now he doesn't know what to do.

From Yahoo:

"While the move is entirely defensible on its face (especially if you aren't too impressed with Kolb), the back story puts Reid and the Eagles' front office in a position where three things can happen, and two of them are bad. The optimal situation is that Vick continues to succeed, the Eagles win a suddenly wide-open NFC East, and everyone goes to heaven in a little rowboat. That's the "Good Ship Lollipop" version. The other versions: Vick falls back to earth, and Reid reverses field by throwing a shattered Kolb to the wolves. Or: Vick fails, Kolb fails, and Reid is left without a viable quarterback. This would be especially bad news if the McNabb-led Redskins were to win the NFC East. "

The Eagles seem to think the Giants and the Cowboys will continue to struggle for the rest of the season. The Giants won't, and as much as I'd like them to, I don't think the Cowboys will, either. Both are better teams than Philly.

Regardless, at the very least simply seeing how this will play out has made Philly one of the most interesting storylines this season.

Philly fans are dumb and tend to think with a hot head. 69% of fans according to philadelphiaeagles.com feel that Vick should be the starter.

There was no controversy. Now there is. They could have ruined this kids career even before it began to be honest. They are getting more media bombardment doing it this way IMO.

They have now lied to their locker room, fans, media, and themselves in a way as well. What message does this send? It's not a good one. It certainly isn't what you want to do if you are turning the franchise over to Kolb. If I was Kolb I would want out ASAP.

Then you have the McNabb situation. Not that it matters but what does this say to him? He's probably sitting back laughing about the whole thing. They showed him by trading him didn't they?

Say Vick plays well this season? Maybe they get into the playoffs. Those are big maybes. Then what? Vicks contract is up. Do you sign him a huge a contract for the next several years and ditch Kolb? What I see happening is someone offering Vick a ton of money. Several teams could use him. That puts the Eagles in a far worse position. This is my major concern.

In the NFL yes wins count. You play to win the game. Just like Herm said. However, the NFL is a chessgame. You need to have the pieces in place to make the right moves. In chess you always need to be thinking ahead. This move tells me that they are not thinking.

So when Vick leaves next year after we have a mediocre season be prepared for more mediocracy next year. Because you wasted a whole season and valuable lessons that Kolb could have benefited from.

Perfect example of hot headed dumb ass Philly fan. This was taken off of comcastsports.net website.

Vick saves lives8:51 am Sep 22, 2010

In 2009 there were 14 human fatalities due to Pit Bull attacks. Vick was saving lives by killing these dangerous, vile, monsters. Also dont talk about killing dogs if you eat chicken, fish, beef, pork etc,. F#CK THEM THEY TASTE GOOD. We need to protect murderous Pit Bulls... they dont taste good.

I will also add one more thing.

I hated the decision to bring Vick to the Eagles. Frankly I was disgusted when they did it. However, after hearing him speak and the numerous hours of community service spent by him eased me up a little. Hell when he was told he was the starter he was at a school speaking to kids. You don't see Rapistberger out there doing these things. So I have nothing against the guy as long as he stays on the right path.

I also believe that from purely a football point of view and the fact the Eagles O line sucks Vick does in fact give them the best chance to win. However, this season was never supposed to be about that. This season was about the beginning of the Kolb era and allowing him to grow with the young roster. Just like Rodgers did in Green Bay.

Your right on all points, but dumb ass owners dont think like GM's and coaches, they want to win now for the money that play off revenue brings.

You would think owners would have the longer-term view, since there is more potential playoff revenue if you put the proper foundation in place (see Indianapolis and New England). But no one involved has a long-term view, IMO. Coaches can't take that view because they can't expect to keep their jobs very long if they don't succeed ASAP, no matter if they have an infrastructure in place that will allow that.

I do not feel that Vick has begun to redeem himself.

But now there is Rapistberger and Vick looks like a frakkin' saint by comparison. 35 years...35 years I have been a Steelers fan. So much so that at one point...my co-workers knew that I would not be at work the day after the Steelers lost a game.

But I am also an idealist where it comes to the pathetic notion that person who commits crimes of cruelty can redeem themselves by throwing touchdown passes in football games that in the grand scheme of things...are meaningless beyond entertainment value. And if we are a society that puts that much value on entertainment...shame on us.

Oh I didn't say redeemed. I said it eased my mind a bit. He still has a long road ahead of him.

And don't forget Ray Lewis. So vile he wasn't even invited to Disney World as the Super Bowl MVP. But hey, the guy is a beast every season and is now in those funny Old Spice commercials, so let's nevermind his involvement in a homicide 10 years ago. The Steelers made the right move with Holmes, but I honestly think the Rooneys were thinking of another SB title and thus "put-up" with Rapistberger. Double standards and completely surprising from that family.

The funnies part of about all of the people mentioned as socities scumbags, is that Vick is the only one found guilty...So mouch for innocent until proven guilty..

Raw Lewis certainly was found guilty of obstruction of justice. He didn't go to prison but he was on probation for a year I believe. He had a good lawyer that was able to get the murder charges dropped in favor for his testimony against the other two defendants.

From what I read, the DA had no case. Nobody from either side would say that he was doing anything but trying to break up the fight.

Now, I am not saying he is squeeky clean...but I do wonder what really went on on that one. There is so much differing information...I don't know what to believe.

Over 14,000 people voted on ESPNS website to this question:

What's your interest in Vick?

61% rooting for him.
8% rooting against him.
30% not for or against.

I expected the rooting against him to be a lot higher.
