I disagree. :lecture Vick is gone regardless after this season. The Eagles will not be able to afford a new contract for him. The point of starting Kolb is to start off his career. If Vick is needed at a point then so be it. However, you can't judge a guy off of a quarter and and a half of football. Go back and look at the stats Kolb put up against the Saints last year.

Also since you clearly aren't in the know, I will help you out with one other fact. Reid scripts the first 15 offensive plays of every game. They are very specific plays that he want's run. Now I'm not sure how many plays Kolb ran but is wasn't many after that.

Most will agree that the play calling in the first half was horrible. It's not entirely to blame but damn it's a good bit of the reason. The world will see Kolb. I have no doubts.

But still, if they're going to groom him and lay their faith in him to lead them back to the play-offs, then 2 plays need called in the huddle whether Reid is calling them or not. Have faith in the QB you're laying your franchise's hands in. And their D needs to get back to the aggressive side. That was terrible against the Lions Sunday.

Playoffs? Playoffs? You want to talk about playoffs? :lol The Eagles aren't a contender this year EVEN with VICK! Ray Diddy hall of famer on Reid's decision. Hopefully this makes more sense to the non-Philly fans. It perfectly explains the reasons why Kolb is and should be the starter.

Can't expect to win when you spot the other team two points, muff a punt, fumble in the red zone and throw two interceptions.

Still, there was a lot of good to be taken from the game. They were a match for the Super Bowl champs in ever facet save one, the turnover battle. Oh well... Now going into week three we're back on the road v. KC, another loud stadium, in a must win situation. I really hope they respond.

Alex Smith used his legs for the first time in a couple of years!! That was really nice to see. I have to admit, it's taken awhile thanks to injuries and a plethora of other excuses but he's finally starting to develop. His pocket presence was pretty good last night, and that's saying something since it's been non-existent in the past.

Agreed. Erase that bad snap or just 1 turn over and they win. Erase 2 or more of those turn overs and they dominate.

Kolb was sacked three times in that quarter and a half during week one too... Hard to look impressive when your line isn't doing it's job.

O-line needs some work. We knew that going into this season. That's part of the reason why they can't compete for the big game. They need to get some upgrades. And the starting center is out for the remainder of the season. Hell Vick was even sacked what? 9 times on Sunday? :lol

At any rate, more teams will be showing interest in Vick next season, so he more than likely won't be in Philly next season. To me it just seems one of those "we're paying him, play him" scenarios. Stats are one thing, checks in the win column are another. Give me a winner over a stat machine any day.

I see it differently. Even with Vick they clearly aren't going to the Super Bowl. So if that's the case why waste a whole season on a player that is going to be gone next year? It just doesn't make any sense what so ever. Play Kolb, get him the experience he needs to make this team work.

McNabb
Montana
Manning
Rodgers
Marino

All of these names had losing seasons when they made their debuts. There is nothing wrong with re-building. You have to start somewhere. I know I'm missing other big names from that list as well. It's how it happens. It is what it is. The fans screaming for Vick are just your typical bone headed Eagles fans that don't think with their head. Even if Vick has the Eagles go 14 and 2 and then they lose in the playoffs what is gained from that? NOTHING! Vick is gone next season.

While I don't disagree, I think it is worth re-stating that the Saints win games because they cause turnovers. That's how they won several games last year, including the NFC title game. Their offense, when it is on, is the best in the league period. But they were inconsistent throughout the year last year, and in both of the first two games. People here and elsewhere I'm sure don't seem to want to give the Saints any credit for the turnovers, instead attributing it to the sloppy play of their opponents, but just look at the big picture. This happens over and over and over again. It isn't a fluke, it isn't an accident, it is by design. The Saints defense is not very good if you want to look at yards given up, 3rd down conversions allowed, etc. But when you factor in turnovers, they are at least a "pretty good" defense. And frankly, with Brees and co. on offense (which will get going as the year goes on, I predict), that's enough. That was enough last year.

So yeah, the 49ers contributed to their losing (the muffed kick comes to mind), but I think the Saints D deserves the credit for essentially winning the game for the Saints last night. Other than that. . .haters gonna hate :D

I'm not taking any credit away from the Saints Sam. Stripping the ball is a priority for their defense. Still, having a snap sail over the QBs head and muffing a punt that should have never been fielded aren't mistakes caused by the Saints, those are very much errors by the 49ers. Stripping Delanie Walker in the Red Zone and intercepting Alex Smith twice, on the other hand, were products of the Saints ball hawking tactics.

Maybe Kolb should give Rodgers a call to ask him how he dealt with a nonstop barrage of opponents barreling through your line.

Some of it comes down to Reid's stubbornness / stupidity, some of it comes down to genuine logic. Vick isn't coming back next year, no matter what. The Eagles aren't making the playoffs, no matter what.

So if Kolb is struggling, ride it out... if he hasn't shown any growth or improvement near the end of of the year, maybe then you can be concerned. It's always a double edged sword, trying to give a player experience on a bad team. But if they truly believe Kolb's their man (and if they do, there will be no changing their mind), they need to go with him.

That snap was horrible. Hard to believe a professional athlete would do that. I must apologize, but I was laughing at that point, thinking that the 49ers were gonna play like the Raiders of the past few years through the game.

Eric Heitman is our starting Center, but he was injured in the pre-season and won't be back till week 4 or so. David Bass has been a starting Guard for us in the past, but after Heitman went down he shifted over to Center. Anyway, one of the issues they had right from the get go has been Baas' snaps in shotgun formation.... Obviously that problem has yet to remedied. :(

I knew the starting center was out and another guy was in, and I understand that this guy might have some problems with a snap, but damn. That was ridiculous. And he looked so pissed on the sidelines afterword, like he would kill anybody who criticized him. And he looked like a guy who could do it.

Vick named the started for the rest of the year. The decision to go with Vick over Kolb is not concussion related.

Jeez. That team is so badly run.

Sounds like a mistake if they are concerned with the long term success of the team, IMO.

If they think they can get to the playoffs with Vick they should go with him, why? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Thats why, playoff dollars.
