I want Brady to get that record, too. Peyton Manning is so over hyped given his tendency to choke in the playoffs. It still bugs me that he was ranked in the top 10 of "all time" NFL players while Brady was 20-something. This record would just be one more thing folks can say about Brady that would really demonstrate how great he is and has been.

Fasano didn't seem the same after he got popped by Chung early in the game. I'm still not sold on them. They have Houston, Cleveland, and San Diego before their bye week. I think they'll be 1-3 at that point. After that the rest of the schedule with division games and the NFL East probably won't be kind to them.

Reggie is fragile. He should be out searching for Bruce Willis.

Like I said, if they don't get shut out the next game, with Houston, San Diego and now with Colt in Cleveland that might happen :(

How about that wonderful D that let Chad Henne (of all people) throw for 416.

I also said that New England's D is horrible, but with Brady they have nothing to worry about, tonight proved it.

But the Pat's defense better bring it because they got Rivers next. :slap

and the O line better protect Brady because SD could pound him.

Really? Really karamazov80? :slap

No player in the NFL means more to their team than Peyton Manning. Period!
If he was so amazing, would he have choked in the playoffs so many times? I don't care how good you are in the regular season, in pro sports, it's the end of the season that matters most, and Peyton, while damn good, is insanely over-hyped to be considered 8th greatest player of all time or whatever given his post-season experiences.

Guess Dan Marino is a pile of garbage using that horrid philosophy.

I'm not gonna spend all night compiling a list, but you can find plenty of names on that one of guys who succeeded more when it mattered. In terms of QBs, Brady and Montana are easily ahead of him, and he's probably on par with Fran Tarkenten (a great player who never won a championship), Marino, and John Elway, to name a few. Hell, I might even put Kurt Warner up there with him. Warner played in more Superbowls, and played well enough to win all of them (the rest of his team just didn't step up).

What it all comes down to is how important you figure the regular season is. We've actually had this discussion, oh, about 7,000 pages back. Michael Jordan isn't the greatest player in NBA history because of his regular season stats.

Well using your logic:

I don't care how good you are in the regular season, in pro sports, it's the end of the season that matters mos

Players who either lost in the playoffs or never won a SB are overrated. :cuckoo:

Montana & Brady have played on All Time great teams, Peyton has had virtually nobody.

Hell, I might even put Kurt Warner up there with him. Warner played in more Superbowls, and played well enough to win all of them (the rest of his team just didn't step up).

So Warner gets a pass for his team under performing, but when the Colts lose it's all Peyton's fault - got it. :lol

Yeah, I gotta say, Karamazov--you're logic is pretty ****** up.

So how do you rate Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer to Manning? lol

Jim Kelly(who actually dominated Marino's teams when they played)?

Manning is one of the best of all time. Whether he wins another championship, or not.

Well, I've seen every playoff game Manning's lost, and he's played significantly less well than he has in the regular season. That's not what "top 10 all-time great players" do. Oscar Robertson was one of the most insanely talented NBA players ever, but he only won one title, so he isn't considered near the top of the all-time greats list.

As for the Pats having all-time great teams, what evidence do you have? Cassel playing well that one year? That's not enough to declare the Pats teams all time greats and to negate the impact of Brady. The Colts have also had good teams around Manning, despite the lack of great defenses. Specifically, he's has some of the best offensive linemen I've ever seen play. But folks tend to ignore all that because they're O-linemen.

There are lots of great teams that don't win when a QB doesn't step up. Look at the Bears over the last decade. That's why QBs are considered the most important players on the team--because they can win and lose games. Peyton's dad was also an awesome QB, but he played on ____ teams so he never had a chance to become a great all-time player. Peyton had good enough teams to have phenomenal regular season success, just to blow it when it mattered most.

Yeah, I gotta say, Karamazov--you're logic is pretty ****** up.

Johnson and Dilfer were guys who won because the teams around them were so good, obviously. Winning a Superbowl doesn't make you a great QB, but failing to win when you demonstrate that you can win in less pressure situations has to affect your legacy. Because winning when it matters is what makes great players all-time great players.
