No, the QB takes heat as well, but you've pinned all the playoff failures of the Colts on Manning directly while giving others a pass. Can't have it both ways.

'Will his team to win'....I don't know how to measure will to begin with. Either the QB makes plays or he doesn't. Same can be said for every other player on the team.
No, those failures don't belong solely to Manning, but all-time great players in that role need a better playoff record than .500, particularly when they prove that they can win all day long when it doesn't matter. As for giving others a pass, I guess you're referring to my Kurt Warner comment. He played his ass off in 3 Superbowls. But unfortunately, he still lost, and that affects his legacy. Same with Peyton.

Great QBs do more than just make plays, they lead their team to win. That's what Montana did. That's what Brady does. That's what Jordan did. He inspires other guys to play better. Manning is supposedly a great learner, he can read defenses as good as anyone out there and makes smart audibles at the line of scrimmage to account for it, he's insanely accurate and has a gun for an arm, etc. But I'm not sure he has that leadership quality in the clutch that those other guys do, and it wouldn't surprise me if that's contributed to his post-season record.

Who said Manning was better than Brady? I never argued that point. I disagreed with you on the following comment,

"Peyton Manning is so over hyped"

That's an irrational comment. I called you on it and you were busted by others as well.
No, this whole thing stems from that damn top 100 players list, where Manning is listed 8, and Brady is listed 21. You think I'm irrational to consider this overrating Manning a tad?

Again, I never said Manning wasn't great. I just said he's not Jesus on the field as some people make him out to be, because of his record in the playoffs--the games that really matter.

Montana had Rice, Taylor, Craig to go to and on D he had Lott & Haley while Brady had an 18-0 team, both are among the top teams in NFL history. Can you honestly tell me Peyton's Colts squad measures up to those? If the answer is yes then let's just agree to disagree.

And Jordan's Bulls were the greatest team in NBA history. :lol

Playing 2 SB's and winning 1 isn't terrible imo :dunno

Maybe you'd have been better off saying Brady was underrated instead :wink1:

That game was hard to watch....especially after seeing the show in Miami earlier tonight. I'm a little amazed I hung in there for the entire thing. Thankfully, I love MNL....no matter how good (or bad) the game is. :lol

The Raiders beat the Broncos in Denver!!

You know what that means John Fox

Itttt'sssss Tebow Time!!!

Well, if you think that Montana, Brady, and Jordan are overrated since they played on great all-time teams, then we will, indeed, have to agree to disagree.

And of course, winning a Superbowl is an amazing achievement. But on the whole, Manning's post-season record is underwhelming considering his reputation and skills in the regular season.

But fine, Brady was underrated. Same difference from where I sit. I'm no Patriots fan or anything. Hell, I don't even really like Brady with his long hair, supermodel girlfriend, and GQ looks. But if there's any current NFL player that deserves accolades, I say it's Brady.

Something needs to be done. I don't know if Tebow is the answer though. The QB situation is getting ugly and I think that's only half of their problems. It's going to be a long season for them, I predict.

Where did I say that? All I'm saying is that the talent of their teams was/is FAR superior to what Manning has had to work with.

I'll buy that. He has thrown some Farve-esque INT's in big games :)

If Brady were ranked 7 on that list and Peyton were 8, would this discussion have even occurred? :D

No, you never said that, but nor did I say that Peyton's teams were as great as Montana's 49ers teams, etc. I just said they were underrated, and regarding the Pats, it is really not possible to say how good they would have been without Brady. The Cassel case is an argument in your favor, but I do think he was the right guy to replace Brady at the right time. The only serious drawback to those Colts teams was defense, and as we've seen in recent years, teams often win by scoring more than by stopping the other team.

As for the last point, there have been a lot of NFL players over the years. The reason I wouldn't list my top 10 is because, unless it was a list pulled out of my ass, I would have to think long and hard about it. I'm not sure either of those guys belongs in the top 10, but it probably wouldn't have bugged me if they listed them as you say, and so I might not have said anything about it. I dunno.

I agree. Denver needs to try something different, and I think Tim Tebow has potential to be good.
