Alot of very close games this weekend between the pats and giants, lsu and bama and the green bay game today, great weekend for football. :horse

First, local NY sports media goons may over-analyze and bash their teams. That's kinda what most local sports media does. But the national media absolutely coddles the NY teams, possibly because the major networks (and the leagues themselves) are based there.

Secondly, it's to an official's discretion to throw a PI flag when a ball is deemed uncatchable. That one clearly was. That's what was "not even close".

No local media bashes their team like NY. Trust me...I've lived in DC for 15 years and EVERY single year, I read in the Post and hear on the local news how this coach/team/QB/ will make the Skins go to the Superbowl. Look at this year...they win 3 games and the local media is saying they are the best in the NFL and Rex Grossman is MVP candidate...now look at them.

The NY media loves building their teams up just to tear them down.

I will admit Tom Brady is the poster child for coddled athletes. You'd think he was god or something the way some just fall all over themselves to talk about him.

Denver...38
Oakland..24

Jeez Louise! :slap

Where is 316what to explain this disaster? The game wasn't on in my market.

Oak/Den. A tale of two halves.

1st half Willis McGahee had 18 yrds. 2nd half 145.
Tebow was pedestrian in the air for only 124 yrds. But he made no bad mistakes. No ints, no stupid "why did he do that?" Ran for over 100 yrds himself.

Penalties and second half defense killed the Raiders.

When the Broncos can run the ball, Tebow is good enough. If they can't run the ball, he will never be accurate enough to chew up a defense. The kid isn't stupid and he's not going to lose games with dumb misplaced confidence type plays like Jay Cutler did, trying to fit a ball in triple coverage. He may lose games with inaccuracy, but not 'doh's.

Prog's explanation will suffice. Stupid penalties and Palmer throwing off his back foot are 2 of the main reasons for losing.

And if you listen/read mainstream media they hate Eli Manning while taking EVERY opportunity to suck Tom Brady's c*ck with how amazing he is and is the best QB ever. The Patriots get very favorable press...

Yup, there's a reason why the media slurps Tom Brady by calling him "The Golden Boy."

I think a lot of sports journalists are just jock-sniffers by nature and always have to put the most successful players on a pedestal. That's the deal with Brady. Personally, I don't think he could hold Montana's jock myself.

That said, if Eli Manning had any other last name or played for any other team he'd get 99.9% less attention.

The media love him and rightly so....he's a good QB and dates hot models. I just don't get how 12 out of 12 of the pre game analyists picked NE over NY and yet NY is being coddled. :monkey1 The rest of the country loves bashing NY....national media as well.

Hah..watching NBC now and Bob Costas just said NY win but Eli only throws 2 touchdowns. Far from coddling...and he just said they were lucky to win.

Guy won a Superbowl...that's gotta count for a little bit of attention...no matter if you hate NY or not.

I missed this post.

Good assessment. :)

The national media LOVES New York. I think Joe Buck was actually gleeful announcing the last minute of the game including having to show the SB42 clips.

Yes, I know Boston gets plenty of national love, but it's nowhere close to NY's level.

110% correct. :exactly:

There is no way the nation media loves NY. I'm sorry but if you can quote me a paper from DC, Boston, Detriot, LA, Dallas tomorrow morning saying how amazing the Giants were today and how amazing Eli was then maybe you have a point.

Boston gets no love...but they are used to it and it's what makes Boston Boston.

Sorry but I think teams like the Packers and the Saints get the most media love/attention and for good reason.

You seriously don't think the national sports media plays up the Yankees, Giants, Knicks, Mets, Jets, etc??? Wow.

You must not follow baseball. Its NY and BOS 50% of the time. Philly 10% of the time and the other 27 teams split the remaining 40%.
