You seriously don't think the national sports media plays up the Yankees, Giants, Knicks, Mets, Jets, etc??? Wow.

Nope...I think the media love bashing the Knicks with how awful they are...I think they loved stories about how awful Steinbrenner was as an owner and how much he spent...they love talking about how the Giants choke every year.

Seriously dude...look at any pre game show this season...you think NY is the most loved team by the media? More than Green Bay? More than the Lions? More than what the 49ers have done? We must be watching different shows. All the ones I see mention that NY is an average team and will be lucky to place first in the division...it's not like they are saying they are going to go undefeated and to the Super Bowl.

You must not follow baseball. Its NY and BOS 50% of the time. Philly 10% of the time and the other 27 teams split the remaining 40%.

Yes...about coverage but not about "love". Just because you cover a team doesn't mean you "coddle" them. The definition of coddle is to treat tenderly. If you honestly think ANY NY based team has ever been treated "tenderly" then please show me proof. NY teams are the most analyzed and criticized...far, far from being treated tenderly.

I don't see the Giants being slurped by the media too much, but the attention the Jets have gotten the past 3 years has been crazy. Granted they have been to the conference championship, so much is deserved, but they are fixated on them.

They've really been kissing Eli's ass the last few weeks.

Bob Costas just said he wasn't good cause he only threw 2 touchdown and he was lucky to win...I don't think that's kissing his butt. Gotta think they are kissing Rodger's and Brees' ass more.

The Jets get attention because of the sound bites from Ryan and Sanchez. In this day and age of tweets and Facebook, those little snippets attract readers. Listening to Ryan is like a train-wreck....

I don't think they are coddled, but they aren't criticized like you imply either. They receive vastly positive press.

I was responding to the original post where it was stated that NY teams are "coddled". That's all I was arguing about. Again, I can't remember a NY team being treated "tenderly" by the entire national press in my 38 years of living.

I didn't come in here looking for a fight, but when I read that all NY sports teams are coddled by the national media I had to say something. The Patriots lost, the Giants won and life goes on. Again...if the Patriots were such an amazing, stellar team then they wouldn't have let the game come down to one play.

But, the Patriots aren't an amazing stellar team.:dunno The 2011 Patriots are the emperor with no clothes.

Of the games they have left I'd say the Lions at home and Giants at home have the best shots. If they can actually do it is another thing though.

First really good Thanksgiving day game in a long time. That's going to be a good game even though GB will prob win.

The refs handed the Ravens that game on a silver platter!
I'm pissed!

I was at that game last night! I'll tell you how bad that officiating was, I was in the bleachers between 527 and 528, behind those white tents, and that play that was reviewed to see if it was a catch, I saw him bobbling it the whole time from up there and was baffled when they marked it a 1st down. If that wouldn't have been inside the 2:00 warning Pittsburgh would have had to use a challenge to get that reviewed. And that challenge Tomlin lost they showed that on the big screen and you could see the ball shift when he hit the ground, again just baffled when it stood. That's when the place erupted into the "BS" chant. I just watched the game winning TD on NFL.com, since they wouldn't replay it on the big screen at the game, and saw how Smith shoved Gay backwards 3 times while that ball was in the air. How was that not pass interference against the Ravens??? And of course the defenseless receiver hit called on Clark was bad. He caught the ball and landed and Clark timed that hit so perfect it was beautiful, but got flagged for it! So of course that kept them alive to get a FG right before the half. But Lewis gets away with that hit on Ward, and of course Harbaugh challenges it so we got to watch over-and-over again on the big screen as Lewis gets away with another dirty hit!

Now granted, the Steelers shot themselves in the foot on quite a few occasions, like the horrible play calling in the 1st quarter, and then the poor clock management on that delay of game to make Tomlin decide to punt. But the killer is how Lebeau always goes into prevent D in those late situations. Keep the pressure on him and make them earn those yards. Get out of that nothing cheap, nothing deep mode!!!

The schedule is fairly mediocre from hereon out, though. Cincy twice, Browns twice, Rams, 9ers and KC. I think 11-5 as the #5 seed at the worst is plausible. And with Baltimore, they've been so inconsistent that them landing a WC slot, or even missing the play-offs altogether, wouldn't surprise me one bit.

But of course I'm just being a bitter Steelers fanboy, and every time the officiating is so blatantly against them someone spouts off about redemption for Super Bowl XL. I've watched that game several times, and yes the officiating was horrible, but it wasn't blatantly favoring any side in that game. Just both teams played that bad in that game.

I thought it was a great game last night. And I don't like one of those teams more than the other, but Baltimore earned their win IMO. Refs make bad calls every game, but I didn't see one of those Ed Hochuli-type deals there that made the difference. The better team won last night because Baltimore stepped up and drove the length of the field when they needed to and the Steelers couldn't stop them.

If anything, the worst ref call of the night from my POV was blowing the whistle before the play was over when Ray Rice was still struggling his way into the end zone. I think the Ravens scored a TD anyway, but blowing that play dead when they did was ridiculous. Pass interference and complete/incomplete catch-type calls are often gonna be subjective and questionable (a really stupid PI was called on the Saints yesterday), and that's understandable b/c things are moving so fast and it can be hard for refs to really see what's going on. But don't blow a goal line rushing play dead before you give the guy a chance to either score or get pushed backwards.
