Yep, kept telling all the yahoos on FB and NFL.com that I just couldn't see Belichick losing 3 in a row, especially to a division foe when play-off rankings could be on the line. I know it's early in the season, but falling two games in the division is bad. This game could literally be the difference between a WC slot and the division title for the winner.
I just get more annoyed with the officiating every week. That goes for every game. Some of these crews just seem like they're day dreaming, and others seem like they're making mountains out of mole hills. I'll actually stick up for Cincy on one. They were called for holding in the 4th, and after the replay I was left scratching my head saying "that was just a damn good block that didn't resemble a hold in the least bit." It's to the point that you just have to take what they give ya and hope they don't suck too much enjoyment out of the game.
And my weekly gripe...... I hate it when they call Joe Flacco "Joe Cool". BS! Joe Montana is the only "Joe Cool" in NFL history. He earned that name numerous times with game winning drives against some of the greatest teams of his time, in some of the biggest games in history. Flacco pitching multiple INTs against scrub teams, and having to rely on his D to bail him out and hold them to FGs, and then showing "poise" all of a sudden late in the 4th to go down and score doesn't earn you that name. Back-and-forth slug fests with championship caliber teams that come down to the last possession in championship games, on a consistent basis, earn you that moniker, and his post season numbers are mediocre at best. He can't keep relying on that D to bail him out, and those coaches and the front office can't keep thinking that they can plug in a few spots here and there around him with free agents and "speedy" rookies from the draft, and make him a champion QB. If he played on a team with a lousy D he would have been benched or cut a long time ago.
Well, Harbaugh got them on an emotional high, and they swept the Steelers, but you can't play your Super Bowl in early November and expect teams to roll over and die for you the rest of the season. Like I said last week, he let them get too emotional over that win and they might have shot their wad for the season. I didn't see any Gatorade bathes on the Raven sideline, and Harbaugh wasn't giving a big emotional press conference like he won the big game this week.
But Jim Harbaugh seems a lot more professional since that childish victory celebration over the Lions. He's done a good job with a crappy team, and those players are really drinking up what he's giving them. Definitely thinking he's coach of the year this season, even this early on. Just better hope he doesn't pull a Tony Sparano, though.
