I have always believed that, for the most part, any team in the NFL has the talent to do well. It seems to me that largely, it is a matter of whether the leadership can motivate and manipulate the pieces he has in a way to out-maneuver his opponent.
And it is evidenced in how some teams that seam like they should be perennial losers get turned around in a season or two with very little change in personnel...other than the coaching staff.
Also, every single year we see teams that are supposed to suck beating the teams that they are not supposed to beat. This does not happen every week. But often enough to have given birth to the "any given Sunday" addage, AND the necessity to guess at upsets each week if you want to win a pick-em pool. And certainly more often than it should if these teams simply have no talent.
Yes, there does have to be talent. And yes, some players do not transition well into the NFL...but I believe that those are exceptions to the rule.
My end point is...I think you might be surprised at how well your boys might do with just a new coach/staff. And Frazier could be that coach (he is still new), he hasn't really showed one way or the other if he can be. I wonder how much time he will get. He has been good as a defensive coach/assistant...but that does not always translate to good head coach. Look at ____ Lebeau. He might just be the best Defensive Coordinator in NFL history (arguable, I know), but he did not work out well as a head coach for the Bengals back in the early 2000s (I am , selfishly, glad to say).
I would never be able to actually prove any of this. But it does stand as a firm belief to me.
