Damn cheating 49ers! They did the lights out trick just to ice the whole Steelers team.:)

Hated seeing the Steelers lose, as always, but the fact that it was an interesting MNF game can't be denied. I am very curious to see what Mike Tomlin has to say about the whole thing.

Listening to both Tomlin and Big Ben post game it sounds like Big Ben refused to come out and Tomlin let him stay in. I love Tomlin, but I'm surprised he would let a player make the decision.

It doesn't surprise me at all that player like that would want to stay in the game. But the coach has to use his veto power when it is in the best interests of the team.

That would certainly explain the look Tomlin had on his face on the sideline during the 4th quarter.

I just watched the post-game interview and was a little disappointed that he fell back on the "the doctors cleared him to play" defense of letting Douchelissbagger play the whole game. But I can also say this...Douchelissbagger is a good-enough QB that I actually didn't feel that they were out of the game until there was only about a minute to go.

Anyway...I don't pretend to understand the whole thing. But I know one thing...the Steelers will put it behind them pretty easily. They always do.

Sucks to be you. The rest of us are pretty much experts on all this based on our half-assed observations of the game last night.

LOL...yeah, it seems to be pretty obvious. I am just offering the benefit of the doubt based on my opinion that both of these individuals are normally pretty good at football.

If you look at the stats, though, in terms of yards per game, the 49ers real defensive strength is in the running game. And the Saints are first in the league in. . .passing (49ers are 21st in passing defense). The Saints are also 1st overall in offense and the 49ers are 5th (Texans are #2). Stats are stats, but I think the Saints have the advantage in that matchup. 49ers are 25th in overall offense, and Saints are 24th in overall defense.

As I think about this, I'm kind of surprised at the Josh's enthusiastic support of the Niners, given his disdain of defensive college football :lol The 49ers seem to be playing SEC-type football on the pro stage this year.

I've loved the 49ers since I was a kid so I'm not quitting now. I love that they play such good defense but I would like to see a bit more offense.

when is Rex ever going to stfu? The guy hasn't won ____, yet he still babbles on. At some point, they gotta fire the guy if they don't deliver a SB. As for the 9ers, I think they are a threat to win it all. Great defense and an offense that doesn't turn the ball over; that's all you really need. TB won the same way.

I'm not sure that's the case in this day and age, where so many rules are pro-offense. In college, I agree 100%. But in the pros, even the Steelers needed to score against the Cards a few years ago to win it.

If they miss the playoffs, it would go a long way to his eventual firing. The constant guarentees are going to catch up to Rex. The media and fans can find him funny and endearing for so long. Eventually they'll expect real results. Last I checked they didn't give out trophies for losing the AFC title game. (Although the Colts did put up banners for it as "AFC Finalists"):lol

Possibly, but they've proven their method of winning is working. They don't need to put up 40 pts like your team, the Pats and GB. I think if SF can put up around 20, they could do it. It seems like NO is always playing in doors, I would love to see them have to go into GB and see what happens.

I do seem to recall NO playing in a snowy Soldier Field a few years back....didn't look like they cared for the cold weather back then either.:lol

____. Up until the 2000s, the Saints had never won a playoff game ever of any kind, and they lost several home games in that period of time :lol And they've only been to the playoffs 3 times in the Brees/Payton era (once winning it all), so there isn't a very large sample size there to look at. So, I don't put much stock in that stat.

Sure, they are better in-doors, but pre-Payton/Brees stats still don't mean squat. They weren't built for playing in-doors with their early 1990s teams that were all about defense.

They lost against Seattle because their defense sucked ass. Could easily happen again this year, but that wasn't explainable by it being an away game.

And they are 0-fer in their away games in the Payton/Brees era, but having studied statistics, I just don't think you can infer very much based on a sample of 2.

Why doesn't playoff history mean anything before the Brees era? What, they weren't called the Saints back then? :lol

According to your logic should I erase the Vikings history in the 70s and their 4 Super Bowl losses? Sorry it sticks with you. :lol

Even a bigger sample doesn't mean that much. Under Brady/Belichick the Patriots hadn't lost a home playoff game from '01-'08. They've now lost their last 2.

They're nice stats, but the games need to be played, any given Sunday, and so on.
