Then why aren't they threatening the one that smacked into his own player two separate times to jar easy interceptions loose? Or the offense for not converting 3rd downs? Or the coaching staff for predictable play calls? That loss can't be completely attributed to Williams fumbling. Just like the Ravens loss can't be solely blamed on Cundiff missing that FG. Heck, the offense wasn't even moving the ball in that OT period, anyway.

Some "fans" are so one-sided and idiotic when it comes to a total team loss. Fact of the matter is, as good or bad as any of those teams played, it just came down to the Patriots and Giants being better teams that day. As much as I myself even might like to _____ about officiating, or dirty plays, it's just the other team was better that day.

Another example of fan idiocy, look at how many Giants fans cried out for Eli to be benched during some games, and wanted Coughlin fired at the end of the season. Now they're singing their praise like they had their backs all season and knew they'd get to the Super Bowl.
I agree with this post.

As for the offenses in the NFC game, obviously Eli played better than Smith overall, but the Niners had the better running game. Giants had more consistency and ate up more clock, but the Niners had a couple of huge TD completions to Vernon Davis that kept them in the game. So, I think the biggest difference is the Niners inability to sustain drives, but it didn't seem to matter too much because that defense played full-out for the entirety of the game. I think the story of the game was clearly the defense, as neither offense had the ability to do much against such great defensive opposition. Eli made some plays, but he's not the reason the Giants won.

I think Smith did prove this year that he is a Joe Flacco-level QB, though. Factoring in the lack of mistakes he makes, and his ability to run with the ball, I think the Niners have a bright future with him in place.

On a related note, I heard on the radio this morning that analysts are expecting Smith to get a $5-6 million dollar a year contract for a couple of years after what he showed this year, while Matt Flynn is expected to get BIG $$ and possibly 1st and 3rd round draft pics as a trade, because of his ONE GAME!! That sounds like an insane gamble to me. Based on what each has shown us, I would pick Smith over Flynn any day of the week.

Back to the Brady /Montana debate

Think Brady gets more credit as others have said cuz the WR are constantly changing, every year aside from those white dudes there are new names in there. Is Ocho evenon the playoff roster?Yes his system is great, but he still needs to complete the passes, and with 45 seconds on the clock, you know hes getting you in field goal range. Im a Marino fan for life, but still give the nod to Brady.

Of course Montana had Rice, but he also had Taylor, Marcus Allen and big 44 FB (forgot his name) John...Rathman??

Well, the Ravens are saying the Patriot's scoreboard erred at the end of the game and rushed Cundiff's kick, and that's why he missed I guess.

The problem with that is Harbaugh still had a timeout left. He could have stopped the clock if they felt everything was rushed.

Blaming the Tuck also diminishes that fact that Adam Vinatieri made a pretty damn good kick in a driving snow storm and that Raiders did nothing in OT to stop the Pats offense driving down for the game winner.

The bottom line will always remain that call will go down as the worst in NFL playoff history. Everyone knows the wrong team went to the Super Bowl. Given the circumstances and stakes, you can't make that call.

As far as the Vinatieri and OT, it never happens if the right call is made.

Agreed. Bad coaching rushed him. Look at the Giants winner in the NFC game, where the coaches had Eli go down in the middle of the field to make that kick that much easier. If it comes down to 1 kick like that, help your guy as much as possible. Harbaugh just can't say they didn't play well enough to win.

I think Raiders fans are having a hard time debating if the Tuck Rule or the Immaculate Reception was the worst call in play off history :lol Poor Oakland, they never catch a break ...... whatever, what about the roughing the passer call against New England in the '76 season Divisional Round? The Tuck Rule Game was redemption for that. And John Gruden did a lot by trying to ice Vinateri before that FG, by taking that time out and giving them more time to clear a spot for the kick. The Pats were short of parolees with snow sweepers that day, so they needed more time to do it manually :lol
