I agree about Manning, but there aren't any guarantees that he'll be anything close to worth $28 million.

Montana on the Chiefs, Namath on the Rams, Unitas on the Chargers, Favre on Jets/Vikings and Manning on ?

Unless he wins a championship wherever he goes it'll just be a footnote on a great career like the others.

Hey, I like your thinking! It would be a first for a team to make it to the Super Bowl in their home stadium. If the Saints win, and I hope they do, New Orleans would EXPLODE! :yess:

Asking as they dont expect us to pay to rebuild the city this time OK.

If the Colts let Manning go, then this season showed no one is going in there and having instant success. That team was built around Manning and for Manning, and they'd need a few seasons to get the new QB adjusted to the system and players, and start building a team that can survive if the starting QB goes down.

I think it'll be very interesting to see the teams that all think the only piece of the puzzle they're missing is a QB going crazy trying to pick Peyton up on their roster, should he hit the market. That will be crazy to watch.

WHEN, not IF.

It won't be that crazy. There's probably 3 teams that would give serious consideration to signing Peyton. Probably a max of 5 teams will show any interest.

Oh, I agree with that number, I just mean more of the offers he'll get will be ridiculous. But I can see Peyton maybe trying to sit down with the Colts and restructuring his contract to try and stay with them. Maybe he can't see him playing anywhere else, either. I don't know all the fine details with that stuff, but you'd like to think there's still some loyalty left in the sports world.

*And also the draft picks Indy would secure from the team he's traded to. Probably not Roy Williams to Dallas crazy (more stupid there than crazy), but Indy would be in a win-win in that situation.

Loyalty? You actually think Peyton still holds loyalty to the Colts organization after the way the owner has been treating him? If he had loyalty, it was to Caldwell and Polian...and they're gone. Peyton has been through the "rebuilding" phase and I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to end his career the way it started.

And like SIX said, Peyton is untradable. Everyone knows the Colts are going to cut him instead of paying the $28M roster bonus. Why would a team give up draft picks when they can wait a week or two and just sign him to a contract after he's cut.

Indy is in one situation and one situation only: REBUILDING.

Yeah loyalty. Honestly, where would that organization be without him. It's not his fault they build the team and practiced to his needs only, just hoping 2011 would never happen. A player going their whole career and being on their last leg with nothing left to offer is one thing, but giving him the huge contract he rightfully deserved and guaranteeing him all that money, and now trying to back out of it, it's despicable. Peyton brought recognition to a team with almost none and never did anything to disgrace that image he worked so hard to build, so a little loyalty to the guy would be nice.

In the end it's a business. The owners will show loyalty to the laundry and not the people. Sometimes you need to know when to cut bait and run. Starting the rebuilding process now with Luck will probably be better for the Colts organization in the long run since they seem to have already changed quite a bit from the end of this last season.

Historically in the NFL there's been no loyalty to the player in Peyton's position....Unitas to Chargers, Namath to the Rams, Montana to KC....and on and on.

There's only loyalty to one thing:

Not long ago you were all over this guy and now you want him traded. :lol

Great player bad attitude. Just can't get over it. Unless he changes. Any teams fan base will be excited watching this kid play. He does amazing things. Hence my enjoyment watching him.

Bad attitude makes him not worth whatever little he brings to the table. Just think its funny you're seeing what a few of us have seen for a couple seasons now.
