Part of the undermining is perception. Mike Turico tonight is laying his criticism on REALLY THICK. Too thick IMO.

For example, blaming the 4 refs for failing to control 30 grown men during that skirmish earlier is absurd. These are professional athletes who know better and should be responsible for their own behavior. Plus each squad has 10 coaches that should also be controlling their own people. But instead the ESPN crew blames it all on the refs? That's overkill.

The problem of the lower quality refs has grown from the actual impact to the actual impact PLUS perceived impact.

Sucky players don't win 8 football games touching the ball 40 times a game. This isn't hiding a sucky TE or FB or WR who you just don't give the ball to.

It just doesn't happen...unless you want to say that every defensive player he beat and made look bad also sucks.

Does he suck throwing the ball? Hell yes. Still won games with what he did have though, didn't he?

Is he a sucky option QB?
