But he's cool and has a weird name and arm tattoos! He must be The One.

After reading everyone's response, I'll have to go with this one. :lol :hi5:

Seriously though, it will be an interesting decision Harbough will have to make. We'll have to wait and see who his go-to QB will be from here on out.

Smith averaged 22.8 offensive points per game this season
Kaepernick has averaged 21.8 offensive points per game this season

Smith is 60.8% in the red zone
Kaepernick is 47% in the red zone

Smith is averaging 8 per pass with 13 TD, 5 int, 4 fumbles, QBR 70.1, QB rating 104, completion % 70, 177.1 yards a game

Kaepernick is averaging 8.4 per pass with 7 TD, 2 int, 9 fumbles, QBR 79.5, QB rating 101, completion % 65.6, 108.5 yards a game

Smith averages 14.9 rushing yards a game
Kaepernick averages 34.5 rushing yards a game

Smith has been sacked 11% of his attempts
Kaepernick has been sacked 9% of his attempts

Stats don't lie. There is no significant advantage to Kaerpernick and a massive disadvantage in experience, especially come playoff time.

Considering the relationship Harbaugh has with the Eagles, I would love to see Smith come to Philly. :rock

There's a very significant advantage. He can throw the ball accurately more than 15 yards away. And he's a big running threat. The way teams have to prepare for the offense, whether he throws 4 TD's or 0, doesn't show up in a stat sheet. Yes, the inexperience sometimes results in an INT like the one he had last night (or his befuddled option look against the Rams), but for the most part he can play the looks that Alex has played for 7 years except he can do more down the field and with his legs. Those stats, as true as they are, also include two piss-poor team games against the Rams (who always give the Niners problems, and the first of which he came right off the bench for Alex) as well as big plays at hostile environments against the Saints (where Alex Smith would have been sacked like 6 times) and Patriots. Alex is fine, but limited. The game against the Giants showed how bad he is when he actually has to drop back and pass downfield. The Vikings too. He misses Crabtree and Kyle Williams downfield by like 5 yards every time. Defenses have already started playing Kaepernick with more "respect".

One thing the stats don't account for is the degree of difficulty in the defenses those guys played. I have no idea which one had a rougher time, but I think that is something to consider. Kaepernick did play against the worst defense in the league (in terms of yards per game) in the Saints, after all, and New England ain't far below them :lol

I hate the local media. With the Pats losing to the 49ers and probably missing out on a bye they may as well pack it in and get ready for 2013. The '11 Giants, '10 Packers, '07 Giants, and '06 Colts show that not having the bye makes you a non-factor.:rolleyes2

That game yesterday was the Patriots first December home loss in 10 years. Just an amazing stat. :thud:

:lol Yeah it's been a good run. I know you said Red Sox fans are insufferable, but I think Pats fans are worse right now with the amount of whining being done in these parts. No, they haven't gotten the Lombardi since '04, but they've been damn close and at least competitive every year. People have been spoiled. Things probably won't be this good for a long time once Brady retires.

Yeah, it's been a great run. The Patriots are one of the few franchises in all of sports where one can say, "will they win the championship" on an annual basis. If nothing else 3 rings speaks for itself.

Combine that with two World Series rings, a NBA championship and a Stanley Cup, you guys are living through the sports golden age in Boston. Very lucky my friend.

Even though the Vikings sit in the 6th and last playoff spot, I give them a 20% chance of winning at a 12-2 Houston team trying to secure home field throughout the playoffs.

In any case, it should be fun to see if Peterson can break Dickerson's rushing mark in the next two games.

The stats don't support your opinion.

Watching the games support my opinion. Not saying that's what everybody should think, but considering that in both the Saints and Pats game the 49ers were just about running the ball exclusively from the 3rd quarter onward (until they had to get their head out of their asses last night late in the 4th) and stopped passing. Like I said, the stats don't tell the whole story. The way defenses now have to play coverage shows that rather than stacking in the box like they almost always do against Alex Smith.

Besides, don't the Option Passes fall into the the QB stats??

I agree with this look at it:

With that Sanchez now has 50 turnovers to his credit over the last 2 years. Incredible.:lol

The Jets' options with him are as follows...

1) keep him as the starter, 2) make him a $12 million backup 3) cut him, taking a $17 million cap hit.

And #3 is a big problem.

What a mistake the Jets front office made in giving him that contract. :ohbfrank:

You're fortunate to be in such a bumbling division with the Jets, Bills and Dolphins. :lol

:lol The best scene in that season of Hard Knocks was after berating the team in a meeting Rex ends it with "let's go eat a goddamn snack!".

I'm going to miss him when he gets canned.:monkey2

Apparently Ryan is a fan, yet has somehow managed to miss all the Eagles games for the past two years. :rotfl:slap

Adding yet another wrinkle to the story: the soon-to-be out of contract Michael Vick is one of the team’s potential replacements for Sanchez. The Daily News reports that Vick would relish the opportunity to come to New York, and quotes multiple sources within the organization saying that head coach Rex Ryan is a fan of the current Eagles signal-caller.

Sanchez has made headlines this season for taking poor care of the football in addition to all-around disappointing play. With the Jets mathematically eliminated from playoff contention last week, Ryan has named backup Greg McElroy the team’s starter for the remaining two games of the season.
