Halak traded for a bag of pucks...

This guy carried this miserable team and this what they got in return??

At least the Leafs got Kessel, what a farce

What they got in return was a first and third round player. It's too early to genuinely evaluate the trade. Ultimately, Halak wanted money as well as assurance that he was going to be the number one goalie. The Habs seem to believe Price is their guy.

The radio airwaves are buzzing about it. Mostly, people are going, "Halak was traded for who??". Personally, while I don't feel great about it, I understand it. It appears to be more about money than anything else. Halak was also eligable for arbritartion. He would have commaned more than the Habs are willing/prepared to pay. Also, one surefire way to get traded from the Habs is to attempt to make demands to the Habs brass.

I hope Halak finds a great new home in St Louis. I certainly appreciated his time here.

Oh I understand the trade, just dont agree it with it. I think they may have done better and personally think it should have been Price that was dealt. Think this was a big gamble, unless they feel Cedric Desjardin is going to be a great goalie also

Price will now be under more pressure than ever before. The fans really liked Halak.
They weren't that crazy about Price. I think the Habs will pick up a veteran goalie to work with Price.

Turco's name has already been thrown around, but to expensive I think

I agree.

There's another issue which has been brought up a number of times too. Price has yet again been given the number one goalie spot in Montreal without having earned it. I don't ever remember the Habs being so dead-set on a player before. This guy gets more leeway than Latendresse ever did.

Yep, its as if they cant admit that passing on Kopitar and others was a mistake. I really think long term Halak will be the better goalie and now I think more pressure than ever will be on Price.

Caps will win the cup next year. Mark this post.

Not without goaltending. Not without a defence.
And, certainly not without more versatility in their style of play.

The Caps were exposed in the playoffs.
Their predictable run and gun system can be beaten.

The first thing I would do is fire Boudreau. He doesn't think well on his feet at all and appears to crumble under pressure. The second thing I would do is sign more North Americans who actually heard of the Stanley Cup and care about winning it. The third thing I would do it get the team to understand that the club is called "The Washington Capitals" not "Ovechkin and the Ovechcadets".

Caps will not make the playoffs next year, Leafs on the other hand will.:lecture:lecture:lecture:lecture:lecture

Quoted for BS.

Love the Caps but they won't win the cup, team has no heart and too many selfish players(i'm looking at you Green).

Oh they will win. They are already getting rid of some of the dead weight. They will upgrade the D. McPhee knows this is his last shot. if they go 1 round and out he knows he's gone. He's survived here forever, but this is his last stand.

I look for the D to get upgraded and also for a REAL trade at the deadline that brings in exp and leadership for the playoffs.
