If The Flyers want to beat the Habs, they don't need to change their game plan at all... Continue running the net without fear of reprisal, maintain a physical presence, stay out of the box, and don't waste time trying to set up the perfect plays. When the Pens and Caps did that, they beat the Habs. However, consistency is essenstial. If the Flyers let up for a second and start showing some overconfidence or lack of respect for their opponent's skills (like the Caps and Pens did), they will lose.

Habs in 6.

I'm glad to see habs fans aren't panicking. However, there some gneral malaise over how unrecognizable this team was, when compared to who showed up to play against the Pens and the Caps.

They will panic after the Flyers beat them in game two. Flyers in 5.

Halak got yank and come back to win the last two games in the last two series, its not gonna happen this time.

Habs fan will panic if it goes 3-0.
Otherwise, this will be a hard fought battle.
Game 2 should be one heck of a battle.

Dude, they are not that good. There is a reason they finsihed 8th

You got lucky against the Caps and Pens, eventually it was going to run out, and this is the start, they are the 2006 Edmonton Oliers, hopefully for them they dont turn out like the Oilers, actually thats what Mtl needs, finish bottom 3 to get a bonafide start for once.

They were good enough to beat the Caps and the Pens. Why diminish any measure of that remarkable accomplishment? To what end? That was excellent hockey. Luck may get a team through a game or two, but not through two seven game series against high seeded teams.

I highly doubt Habs management would support any bottom 5 placement in the standings. In their mind, their fans deserve more for the money they're paying to sell out the Bell Centre every game of the year.

I will say this. Yes the Habs did great against those teams. Why? Because they were able to stop and shut down Ovechkin and Crosby. The Habs were good at stopping 1 player in both of those series. With the Flyers they don't have just 1 super star to worry about. The Flyers have everyone scoring and playing at a very high level. Also just because they have made accomplishments doesn't mean they will win. What team that's still in doesn't have accomplishments to brag about? Good luck to the Habs. However, if the Flyers continue to play the way they have then the Habs don't have a prayer. :lecture

Ovechkin had 5 goals and 4 assists for 9 points in 7 games and a disallowed goal in game 7 that should have counted to tie the game. They didn't shut him down.

The Habs beat the Caps because the caps coaching staff knows ONE thing. Play loose and run and gun. When it's not working they are lost and the coaching staff has no answers. They expect the players to go out there and win on talent alone.

Semin and Green were complete no-shows the entire series, but the same can't be said about Ovechkin in that series.

This is a perfect example of typical Habs fans thought process.

Exciting hockey? 18 shots a game is exciting? Playing the trap is exciting? Dropping alll your guys in front of the net is exciting?
Again ask anyone who knows hockey and they will tell you Caps vs Habs and Pens vs Habs, were the two most boringest series of teh entire playoffs. They got lucky and essentially scored on EVERY oppportunity. You didnt sweep either team, you didnt beat them in 5 or 6, you lucked out in game 7's, with no calls and bad goaltending.

A remarkable accomplishment is the Flyers, the Habs are not, Im sorry.

And to your last comment, thats exactly why theyve never been past the second round for the last 17 years, cuz mediocrity still sells 10$ beers and 25$ parking.

Ovechkin did show up, but not for every game. He and Backstrom were no-shows for a couple of games, which could have made the ultimate difference. However, I completely agree with your assessment of Boudreau's coaching skills. His limitations as a coach were really highlighted, as were coach Martin's strengths.

Like the Flyers, the Habs have quite a few players who can score too. Both teams have been known to play some clunkers throughout the year. Let's not forget, Halak shut out the Flyers during the season as well. There's perspective to be found everywhere.

P.S. For fun's sake, I sure do hope the Habs show up as it would make for far more entertaining hockey. Hopefully, Pouliot will benched and they're bring O'Byrne back in to hit everything that moves in front of the net.

Did you have any friends at all growing up?
You either provoke for no reason or drown in cataclysmic black despair.
You should get out more, have some fun.
The world can actually be a cool place, if you let it.

Thanks for the words of wisdom, anytime you feel like taking off your Habs coloured goggles feel free.

Awesome player. I wonder if that might mean Semin's days are numbered... Semin's contract is good until June 2011.
I'm sure the Caps could get some really good help on defence for him. A draft pick on top of that too.

He needs to go. Always hurt and is always a no show in the playoffs. Trade him get a proven netminder or Solid D-man.
