I'll go with Habs in 7 and Hawks in 6. Montreal gets one more happy riot in before they fulfill their role as the '06 Oilers and lose in the game 7 of the finals. Halak with the Conny.

I was going with the Canucks to win the west but now that they are out I think Thorton and the Sharks have some tricks up their sleeves.

David Boreanaz has had an official NHL blog for a few years. He's a huge Flyers fan and usually talks about them. However, I don't know if he submitted anything for this year's playoffs. Anyone know?

Yeah, I remember reading a few of his blogs, and no I don't keep up with them.

I would say either way, it should be a Habs and Hawks Final, with the Hawks winning it. Montreal isn't THAT good and the NHL doesn't want a Canadian team to have a Cup. See Calgary's goal (or what should have led to a Cup winner) be called off in the 04 playoffs in game 7 of the Cup Final. There is some who believe that Khabby wanted to be dealt out of Tampa because he didn't believe his team deserved the Stanley Cup. Or it was based on that belief system that ultimately saw him ousted from the organization. Either way, there was definitely a conspiracy there as most teams don't deal a Cup winning goalie like that.

Watch as more penalties are called against the Habs vs. Philadelphia, despite the fact Philly is a goon team. If the Habs make it to the Final, they'll be not only competing against either one of the Hawks or Sharks, but also the Bettman era NHL.

The honesty is coming out... My feelings for the past few years, but has definitely come more apparent since all the talk about my city getting an NHL team....

The aforementioned American bias to see weaker American clubs win the Cup over strong Canadian markets which would sustain their fan bases, no matter the end result, is one reason I think the NHL is a big joke. The other reasons being the very inflated player salaries, geographical setting of the teams, the negligence on the league's part to lose more money in those markets rather than relocate or shut down shop to bring down mass losses, and the fact that the NHL can shoot down Ballsie's proposal to purchase a team, use the excuse that he's got poor business ethics, yet they have had a few owners already in cahoots with the law, and have or will be indited.

You have a league which uses Winnipeg getting an NHL team before a Hamilton as a subject of BS to get people's minds off the whole Hamilton debacle. You know the NHL has no intentions of putting an NHL team back in Winnipeg or that would be admitting that they were wrong and the NHL is just plain too stubborn to admit that.

I am finding myself hating this joke of the league, but don't get it confused with my love for the game. Hockey is and always be the greatest sport ever in my opinion, but it's sad how its top league is a joke, and has been for some time now. I miss the Ziegler era.

I guess one thing we can take from this Bettman era that's of any good is the fact you don't have those dynasties anymore. Simply because there are far too many teams, and especially with the salary cap it makes it damn near impossible to see teams take the Cup for 4+ straight years. I like that since you don't get annoyed by the factor that one team dominates year in and year out. I remember the 80's Oiler haydays and thinking, oi, not another year Edmonton wins it. Get over it Voorhees. ;)

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Canucks? Really, have you ever seen those _____birds play? Sure they're good offensively but what do they have in defense other than Salo? Bieska? O'Brien? Those two guys are more of a liablity than defensemen. Plus Luongo isn't that good of a goalie. He was 17th in overall among starters. Tim Thomas the dude that lost his job in Boston had a better save % than him.

WOW! And I bet prior to this season you were one of those guys who thought Luongo was underrated and better than Brodeur. I always was more of a Brodeur fan than a fan of Lou's, but Vancouver is a great team, but Chicago is better. Don't be fooled, that team is pretty good. Oh, and O'Brien and Bieska are nothing to write home about. Oh, and what about Edler, or did you forget to mention him?

Actually I thought Bieksa did pretty good in the playoffs and he was a favorite of mine during his time in Manitoba. I even had someone say I looked like the guy at one of the games. lol

Wasn't it in game 6? I remember everyone in Calgary throwing an absolute ____fest over that one. But even with being in Edmonton, and with the huge rivalry between the Oilers and the Flames, I definitely felt for them.

I'm liking the Flyers over Habs, I wanna say 6, but I'm feeling 5

You know what, it probably was Game six. It was several years ago so I apologize if my memory is a bit stale. But you know what I believe you're right. I do remember I was in a pub at the game watching it with my best friend and brother at the time, and one of the city's radio DJ's was in attendance. I think we were supposed to win Game six, and they called the goal off. That would have won the series and the Cup for Calgary. Either way, the NHL doesn't want a Canadian team to take it. If that's the case, than the NHL is no better than the WWE. It's no better than sports entertainment with a fixed outcome.

MLB and NFL teams in the S.F. Bay Area have been a big disappointment in recent years. Meanwhile, the Sharks have had one of their best seasons in franchise history. I'd really like to see them go all the way and win the Cup this year. The way they've played this season, I believe it's a distinct possibility.

What is the fan following and interest of the Sharks in the S.F. Bay area?

I'm overseas and have to follow them online, but I know the Sharks have had a loyal following since day one. I'd have to imagine everyone's going nuts right about now. Detroit has been their most bitter rival for years, Colorado next, so just to have knocked those two out of the running must have Shark fans in a feeding frenzy.
:yess:

They've made it to the playoffs quite a few times before, but this year I feel they've got a real shot at the Cup. It'll be interesting to see how they do against Chicago.

Btw, I've only seen the Sharks play live once, when they opened the '98 season against Calgary in Tokyo, Japan. The wife and I went and met a whole gang of Sharks boosters who made the trip with them. Cost me a small fortune, but worth every penny! :lol
