Apparently the rumor is that they're going to sign Bryzgalov to a 7mm dollar a year contract.

Giving up two superstars who are in their mid 20's for depth players and then making room for an overpaid goalie contract in a saturated goalie market? Ouch! This team is imploding!

Carter is a solid player as well as Richards except Richards plays kind of dirty.
The cool thing is, Eli, is that they'll no longer play in our division.

I like what they got in return. This puts a lot of pressure on Briere, Giroux, and JVR to really play well though.

Not as much of a cap hit as expected. Anyone think the Flyers could be going after another big free agent? I've heard a little about maybe Brad Richards but I think it's just wishful thinking by other Flyers fans.

Having said what I did I like Schenn's potential, even if that's all it is at this point and I like Simmond's size and package (not _____), ability! Not sure about the 8th overall pick. Very weak draft class in 2011.

That's absurd especially considering how saturated the market is with quality goalies that go for a lot less. Not a fan of that move at all.

But in a way it allows for stability and continuity between the pipes in the Flyers net which otherwise has been a revolving door since the Ron Hextall days, and even those days weren't that long. You could go as far back as Bernie Parent for a goalie who had any real longevity with that team. That's just sad.

I'm with you on Simmonds. I'm exited to see how he will fit with the team. I like that he could eat up some solid PK minutes too.

He's a solid powerforward who has some decent hands. Think of a poorer man's Todd Bertuzzi, pre-BS days when he was putting up 85 and 97 point seasons with Vancouver.

Well, that and Simmonds is black. Well he is!

Not worth it IMO, his injury history is too much of a red flag...that said i'd love to see philly waste money on him.

Flyers only have about 7mil plus left in cap space. They could fit Richards but I heard the rumor is TOR, NYR and LA playing tug of war. No matter reports are Richards refused to waive his NTC today. Gotta wait til July 1st.

Tim Thomas is a beauty, but I don't like his age. I also don't like the length on the Bryz deal. 5 years would have been okay, but 9?! Long term deals never work out for the org.
