Couldn't be any worse than our clown ex-GM Doug Risebrough. Left the Wild franchise with bad contracts, bad trades and bad drafts. At least the current GM seems to have the franchise headed in the right direction.

If there's a GM worse than Sather than I really pity those fans.

No, I meant getting back into the NHL in general. When the North Stars left I said "never again."

Caps have no identity, and until they do I wouldn't pick them to win a Cup. They went from being a high flying, run and gun, blow you out by 6 goals type of team in '08 & '09 to trying to be a balanced team that focused on gritty defense which absolutely failed in '10.

On the contrary, I couldn't disagree more. I like the outlook of the Minnesota Wild. Minnesota is a beautiful State. Canada is more beautifiul. Just saying. heh Granted I am comparing a whole country to a State, but no I love your State. It makes sense why they went with the name. I love the design of the logo (very smart) and the colour scheme.

And I like your team this year. You added a lot of goal scoring punch to your roster. Devin Setoguchi is a 23-year-old who in the right situation is a capable 30-35 goal scorer. Dany Heatley is a 40 goal scorer. Don't let his 26 goal season last year scare you away. He had a broken wrist. You lose a lot of dexterity and strength, both needed with stickhandling and shooting. On top of that he played through a high ankle sprain towards the end of the season. This year he's at full health. He's No. 2 in goals since joining the NHL in 2001 and is 5th in points. So you gain a lot of offence there. This finally gives playmaking centers like Mikko Koivu and Pierre-Marc Bouchard wingers that compliment their game.

You'll have a full season, and more matured and developed Jared Spurgeon who is a PP specialist, and Marek Zidlicky anchoring the point. Only big minus is you lost Brent Burns. I believe Spurgeon has the offence to replace Burns PP presence, but physically (combined with Burn's high HT and BS ratio) and defensively they may have to look elsewhere to fill that need. That's where an FA signing or a trade at a deadline may come in handy.

I like goalie Nicklas Backstrom. He's big and solid for you guys in net. With the right tinkering and a more offensively driven objective in mind, this team could surprise.

You guys also made some brilliant picks in the this past year's draft picking up a defensive juggernaut in Jonas Brodin and big-time scoring forward Zack Phillips. Your team went after two appropriate needs, a solid two-way blueliner and an offensive forward.

Caps will finish best in the east and get bounced in the first round, second round if they get really lucky. One of the twins will win the scoring title. There that good!?

Boston won't repeat. I just don't think they have the Wings factor to win back-to-back Cups. But time will tell.

Pittsburgh will only win the Cup if Crosby and Malkin are both healthy, and interested. When both are on, so are their lines. It's impossible to shut them both down. They had the Stanley Cup hangover the following season. I mean you would as well having played 10 rounds of playoff hockey in 3 years.

Philadelphia made too many changes, and ones I just don't see them taking them all the way. Letting go Richards and Carter, their best two guys of the future was ballsy. Too ballsy. And I just don't know if I am big into Bryz as they are. Could be Luongo v 2.0.

I actually like Washington's chances. They will play more run-and-gun this year and still tighten things up more than two years ago. I think you'll see a middle ground, between last season's game and the year's before. They finally have that competent goalie in Tomas Vokoun. If Crosby and/or Malkin are not healthy, this is the team to win the Stanley Cup. You guys know I am not a Caps fan, so it takes a lot of effort on my part to admit that, but you guys made the appropriate moves, have the appropriate chips coming up in the Orlovs and a top 5 NHL veteran goalie in Vokoun in net. If this doesn't get you the Cup, then this franchise does not deserve to ever win a Championship.

Vancouver Canucks are essentially the same team as last year so they are the favorites in the West for me, but can the city of Vancouver take another big riot in back-to-back years win or lose?

The Anaheim Ducks are my other big favorite in the West with their Big 3 in Cory Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and Bobby Ryan. If they can resign Teemu Selanne this is a team that can and will go far.

The Ducks are the most underrated team ever. they had the only 50 goal scorer last year and a 40 year old with bad knees who was 8th in PTs in the league and you don't hear a thing about them. not to mention their rookie defenseman Fowler who had at least 2 game winning goals in OT that i can remember.
