Re: 2013 NHL Season

:goodpost:
:lol
Basketball would be a real sport if it were played on skates.

It's not so much that it's played on skates. There is more physicality.... Something amazing about a guy barrelling at you at speeds of 27 mph at the size of 6 feet plus and over 200 lbs with all that gear... smashing you into the boards.

Don't get me wrong, I like basketball... I just feel there is more to hockey.

Watch as Bodie comes in and alters the words. lol

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Even goons would skate circles around you and I. :D

Speak for yourself. You don't know how good of a skater I am, and how bad some guys like Trevor Gillies can skate.

Okay, maybe he could.. but my brother could skate circles around him. :lol

Actually sadly I could. Just like I am in better shape than some NHLers. Just check my conditioning pic at a body building show (somewhere on these forums) compared to someone like Dustin Byfuglien and Kyle Wellwood. All these guys have really over us they are much better at playing the sport. When you're as fat as Buff and can still skate and score with the best of them, that says something. Doesn't mean they do everything better. Imagine if he was in shape. lol

Heck, players used to smoke back in the 70's and 80's. Guy Lafleur and Mike Bossy were notoriously known for smoking even during games.

Guy Lafleur was one of the greatest players of his generation despite his pack-or-two-a-day habit, say some who played with him. Bowman says that Lafleur regularly smoked a cigarette between periods.

"He'd smoke in the (hotel) room, but always in the bathroom," says former Colorado Avalanche great Joe Sakic, who shared hotel quarters with Lafleur on the road when the two were teammates on the Quebec Nordiques during the final two seasons (1989-91) of The Flower's career. "I told him he didn't have to do that. I mean, I was in awe of him. He could have done whatever he wanted. But he always insisted."

At the end of the day your usual NHLer has great physical conditioning and above average skating (compared to the masses)...

:lol Finally recovered I think. Tough loss. I know they fell down 0-2 in '11 and things worked out, but I feel that Game 2 is an absolute must win. These Blackhawks aren't going to be intimidated and thrown around like the Canucks.

Please don't ever compare the Hawks to the Nucks. I can't stand them. I was OVERJOYED when they lost game 7 in '11. I only wish the Hawks could have knocked them out in game 7 of their series. The rioting would have started earlier. :lol I think the whole city would have been on suicide watch if the Hawks would have knocked them out of the playoffs again. Especially after the Nucks went up 3-0. Man, I was cheering on Boston hard back then. Now, not so much. :wink1:

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Thank God he went to the Rangers. Was starting to worry that he would end up coaching a team I kinda-sorta cared about.

Now Tortorella get to Vancouver!! They could use a guy with his highly esteemed coaching resume.

Esteemed coaching resume? He won the Stanley Cup with the Lightning close to 10 years ago. He hasn't done crap since. Screw the Fonz!

I like Vigneault. Too bad I have to hate him now.

Calgary deserved the Cup in 2004. That was totally a legal goal by Gelinas in Game 6. Boo on TB winning it. NHL rigged that one.

And yeah, Torts has a boss resume... putting players under the bus in front of the media and public, and oh yeah, big asshat to the media. He was an all-around jerk off.

How old jagr man?! That guy was playing when I was in high school.

I really don't know squat about this sport. But the Heat won the last time I posted in here so here I am.
