Dude, all the Parise talk on the networks and the fact that the Devils get no mention or respect for anything is just irking me. Sorry, but you're "won't happen" sent me over the edge.
It's ridiculous! They did a segment during the Flyers/Sabres intermission about active players who are 40. No mention of Marty.

Sadly, no matter how successful the Devils are and have been for the past 20 years... only the Wings and Penguins can argue they have had similar to greater success than them during that tenure, and that is debatable. My point is, it's the market and the old, "They play the Trap and Dump and Chase" mentality that people can't seem to let go of. Or that Brodeur was a product of his team's great defensive system and all the great dmen who played there. It's always an excuse. Sadly, the fan support is not strong for them like it has been for other successful clubs like your Pens and your Wings.

Brodeur and the Devils simply are the Rodney Dangerfields of the NHL. More-so the Devils are. People are starting to finally give Brodeur the props he deserves. Even though people say his Vezinas wouldn't be there if it weren't for guys like Niedermayer, Rafalski, and Daneyko. Funny thing is, he won his last Vezina, if I am not mistaken, without any of the aforementioned blue liners.

You mean the sweep where Lemieux totally pwned the North Stars' D? Sorry. Six, Eli is irritating me.

Sweep? It was 4 games to 2.

8-0 blowout in Game 6! I saw that game! Lemieux was unstoppable. Guess the dman who he was dragging along with him for one of his goals against Jon Casey.

What a crushing defeat that was. Was it Jim Johnson?

But damn it was a fun ride while it lasted. Beat #1 team in points (Blackhawks), beat #2 team in points (Blues) and beat defending Cup champions (Oilers).

It's waay too early to be saying who's going to be in the cup based on 2 games.
The Sabres were 12-0 to start the 06-07 season and they lost in the ECF to the Sabres. The Canucks won the President's Trophy last year and were swept. The Wild came out barnstorming last season and were number 1 overall for a time. They missed the playoffs.

Eli, you do know that 8 out of 12 ESPN "experts" picked the Rags to win the east. The Pens aren't the little darlings of the NHL anymore.

I don't care who is the media darling or what others pick. I am going by what I feel is a good pick. Doesn't always mean it comes to fruition. I mean who would have predicted an LA/NJ Final last Spring? Nobody did. Maybe after round 1 for LA. Or after the Carter trade happened. They were changed. 8th seed be dammed. Not the same team.

I think everyone pretty much had one of Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, or New York going all the way in the East. Could be Carolina or Tampa Bay... Buffalo.. I mean there are lots of potential candidates.

Sorry, that was a sweep over the Blackhawks.

Yeah, the Hawks was a sweep. We beat the Hawks 6-5 in Game 4. Captain Hook (Mike Keane) pulled Eddy "The Eagle" Belfour early in the first period after letting in 2 goals on 4 shots. A young unknown commodity in the shape or form of the Dominator Dominik Hasek relieved him, and didn't fair much better (who am I kidding, of course he did), to the point he made a sick fearless out-of-the-net poke check on a streaking Kevin Stevens.

I know way too much about this game. lol

Oh yeah! And the Devils started the 95 season 0-4

And as you know, the Devils failed to make the playoffs the following year they won the Cup in 95', which led many to believe they were a one trick pony. One year wonder that got lucky, against an otherwise, better team in the Detroit Red Wings.

I also hated the old Colorado Rockies jerseys. Altanta Flames.. heck, most of the team jerseys around that time were eye sores. lol

I predicted David Schlemko to be the next sleeper fantasy dman stud. Looking good so far.. 2 points in 1 game and it isn't even over yet!

Love how goaltending is irrelevant in that game. Speaking of bad goaltending, what is going to happen with Philadelphia....

Nah, I know of the Barons. I even have an old card of a Cleveland player. I believe the old Jets boss, coach Murdoch played for them.

Too many to mention, then we go WHA... yup. To watch hockey back then.

How about the puke bright orange Bruins jerseys with the Bear head on the center? Or the crudely drawn comic-ized purple/blue Mighty Ducks jerseys? Or or the old school throw-back Canadiens jerseys with the candy cane look?

The old Purple and yellow pre-Gretzky era Los Angeles Kings jersey sucked the big tit as well.
