Re: Nintendo 3DS

When I first heard the announcement, I thought it was poorly timed, but now it has been revealed that Nintendo's hand was forced because of press leaks causing them to perform a preemptive strike, so to speak:

From 1up.com:
If you thought Nintendo's sudden announcement of the 3DS was a little odd, you weren't alone. With no teases or press event, the company simply sent out a sparse press release in Japan, promising more details at E3. Many assumed it was to bump their stocks in preparation for the quarter closing, but a report from Gamasutra suggests it was actually to head off word leaking out from Japanese newspapers.

"Apparently, the Japanese press was all over it and talked with suppliers there, and Nintendo just wanted to get out ahead by breaking the news to prevent a leak," said M2 Research senior analyst Billy Pigeon. "Does it clash with the DSi XL? Yes, it does." This would certainly explain the strange timing, since the announcement could have been saved for E3 when playable units would have undoubtedly made a bigger impact.

Which Japanese news agencies were on the story isn't mentioned, but only hours after the announcement we saw rumors from Japanese sources Nikkei and Asahi. The rumors included word of parallax barrier 3D technology, a tilt sensor, an analog stick, and rumble. Though these features are all still in the "rumor" category until we hear official word, the possibility that Nintendo was trying to head off the reports gives them a little more credence. We'll find out for sure in a few months at E3, when we see the system for ourselves.

A hands-on vid from 1UP (I want to put my hands on two things in that video. Well, maybe THREE things, including the 3DS itself)

Re: Nintendo 3DS

You should be a salesman. I had no intention of watching that video until your post. :hi5: :lol

Funny you should mention that....the entire time I watched the video I didn't pay attention to anything except the blonde girl's ****s.

Lol...I used to be in sales. Always cater to your target audience. Honestly, the first time I saw it I thought the guy was seriously trying to look at the girl's chest. :dunno I don't blame him either.
