so are you against schools being forced to serve nutritional food during lunch instead of the sponsored crap they shell out now? I mean that is still something other than yourself telling you what your kids should eat.

I work in the school system, and yes they do dictate some of the things the kids have to eat, BUT, that's because the school receives state funding, and also, they are only concerned with the kids that get free lunches, not the ones who pay full price.

btw...our schools don't have sponsored crap at all.

They can pack their lunches if they don't like what they're having. Same with not going into McDonald's if they don't like what they serve. McDonald's is a private business. The state or government shouldn't be involved in it. They have more important things to waste tax dollars on.

dude if making Happy Meals be nutritious makes people leave California then this needs to become a state wide law........please leave so that the cost of living will drop.

With all the people leaving and businesses ( already happening) enjoy your cost of living with no private investment and wealth with no high income taxable people.

But I'm an economic major with a speciality in microeconomics so maybe when you regulate businesses to death and have the highest taxes in the country maybe people will flock to your state and it will become finically healthy! I wouldn't bet on it though:peace

I think KFC should give out free Nintendo DS systems to children who are able to eat 100 double downs in a month. This promotes the atkins diet in our youth. I love the idea. :rock

Schools in California have sponsored crap and that is part of the problem (and it's not just in California). As far as McDonalds being a private business and all I can always point out that Tobacco and Alcohol companies are also private businesses that are regulated by the government. McDonalds know what they are doing and their game plan is to get the kids hooked, and fast food is addictive especially when starting young.

I realize that this back and forth can go on forever and I agree that parents should be in more control of their children but the reality is that doesn't happen and I do think it's important to worry about the health of our future generations. Country cannot return to greatness if everyone is fat and lazy.

Where does it end? Are we going to stop driving cars because it could be dangerous or because of Al Gore?

We as a country do not need to return to greatness. We are still the most powerful and greatest country on this planet. What we need is to have the government off our backs and give people responsibility again.

But this is really the problem. No one wants responsibility because responsibility means not buying the extra big TV, getting the loan you couldn't afford, driving the SUV you couldn't afford, etc etc. Boy responsibility sucks!
