I don't think what they are doing in this case is so bad. All they are doing is forcing McDonlads to make their meals healthier if they want to include a toy.

Is that so bad?

They already have healthier options, it's up to the parents to choose them. Kids don't pay for Happy Meals, parents do. Parents don't want their kids to eat that stuff, don't buy it. The whole thing is a waste of time and tax payer money. It's not going to help anything, it's not going to end obesity. Why aren't they going after BK, Wendy's or Taco Bell as well?

Once this kinda of thing starts, when does it end?

Another thing, why should the government tell any resturant what they can sell? No one forces people into their doors to eat. It's a choice.

Don't worry they will go after the other chains soon, McDonalds is first because they are the biggest. Once they get McDonalds everyone else will be that much easier.

I still don't think it's a big deal, most parents are too stupid to leave the choices up to them (they will always pick the non-healthy meal because that's what they would want, or they think obesity and the health problems that come with it are a myth perpetrated by the liberal media) so they'll have it made for them.

Other things from Tobacco to Alcohol are regulated by the government how would completely unhealthy food be any different? I fail to see where regulation on something totally damaging to your health is not regulated when everything else that is damaging to you health is (it's not like they are telling adults that they can't kill themselves with bad food). Please explain.........

Oh lord.:slap:cuckoo:. I can't believe the amount of people who welcome more government intrusion into their lives. Everythings all fine and dandy until the government starts futzing with something that is important to you. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The United States has a childhood obesity problem because of the parents. Until parents tell their kids to get off their lazy hind ends and get out and get some exercise, we will continue to have an obesity problem.

What answer? All I see is a post from someone who doesn't think they are mature enough to make day to day decisions and wants the government to tell them what they can do. I shudder to think that there are a lot of people in this country that have the same mentality as you.

actually we've talked about them before in the marijuana thread and you don't seem to mind that government intervention on that "vice" (funny how you term Happy Meals as a "vice"). I just don't see how wanting future generations to eat healthy is a bad thing, look you want your kids to eat like crap then order them a big mac and buy them a toy on the way home, problem solved!

I'm not terming happy meals as a vice. I'm talking about smoking or drinking. As far as wanting my kids to eat like crap. I'm not one of the stupid parents you were referring to in your original post. I realize that an active teenager who eats healthy most of the time will suffer no ill effects from an occasional fast food meal. I have 2 kids and 2 step kids. My 2 are involved in indoor and outdoor color guard through probably 2/3rds of the year. My step daughter is on a competetive cheerleading squad and the other step daughter is a book worm who is rail thin.
