Ah yes, just read it was a fellow called Bob Simmons the first 3 films - very telegraphed spin. Connery did make it a bit better when he took over but still I don't like the hat, the outstretched left arm and the slight wobble in the legs.

I think Connery was trying to mimic Simmons a bit, but I could be wrong.

I like Moore's too, but the giant bellbottom pants kills it for me. :lol

Yeah, still my preference and hard to get now - well, at least when I last shopped for clothes in the old world. All I could find was tight ankles or at most straight leg jeans - and always navy/dark blue. I like pale blue or black - nothing but navy to be had in Irish shops though!

Interesting. I no longer wear jeans tho.

I mostly were these now when I'm not wearing regular pants. I wear these mostly in green, grey or black.

Y'know I actually am interested in an alternative to jeans. Just to mix it up a bit. I was already well-overdue a massive clothes haul then along came Covid to put a spanner in the works. I prefer to shop for clothes in person.

I really enjoyed this movie. A definitive ending for Craig’s Bond. Very much enjoyed the Easter eggs, call backs and musical cues to other bond movies sprinkled throughout. Used my two favourite Aston’s as well from the series.

Fortunately the trailers did not give away everything and there was still enough twists and turns to surprise me. In part because I’m so used to the Bond formula that I never expected them to do certain things with the story. Take note Rian Johnson that’s how you subvert expectations.

For me, this movie is fighting for second or third place with Skyfall for second best Craig bond movie, future viewings will help find its permanent place in the order. I think it will be one looked back on fondly by fans overtime much like OHMSS for doing things a bit differently. The ending is very bittersweet.

Safin was a bit underbaked as a villain but Rami used his screen time well and his last scene with Bond was great. It was interesting having Bond not really have any connection to the villain for once as well.

All the calls to arms about wokism turned out to be nothing more than some clever pre-movie marketing. Lynch was good as 007 (though I’m not interested in a spin off movie with her, I’m only in the franchise for Bond) and the other female cast were handled well. I don’t know how involved Phoebe Waller Bridge lady was but she didn’t “ruin” anything, maybe Indy will be ok (besides the obvious elephant … I mean fossil in the room).

Anna de Amis continues to shine in everything she is in and she was a fantastic “Bond girl” in this.

Not sure I understand the negativity I’m seeing online for the film. People wishing for your typical Bond film and being turned off by a new 007, the ‘twists’ and ending of this go watch Die Another Day and remind yourself why that’s not always a good thing. This film has a lot more emotional weight than your typical Bond and had my wife in tears by the end haha. It felt more like Craig and the creative teams love letter to the Bond franchise and was very rewarding for long time fans of the series.

I think it helps with this film if you don’t view the Craig movies as somehow in the same canon as the others - which it clearly can’t be given it is an obvious reboot with CR. I’ve always compartmentalised my favourite bonds into their own runs and the Craig movies now sit as a nice mirror to the Connery series (which in my head canon ends with OHMSS, how I wish that had been Connery’s last outing as 007).

There were definitely plot holes aplenty and your usual overt product placement from a modern Bond but the overall sum of its parts made this Bond fan very happy.

My first trip back to the cinema since the pandemic and a perfect one for a Brit like me.

I hope they choose to reboot the movies again after this as a period piece set in the 50s and closely follow the novels (save the ones already adapted well). My vote for new bond is Henry Cavill.

I can't wait for a new Bond. It's kind of exciting actually, the beginning of another era! :D

Considering there's such a focus on diversity and representation blah blah blah... does it matter to anyone if they choose a black British actor?

When Craig was chosen, I was against it because of his face and blond hair, but he won me over with Casino Royale.

Because of that I'm not going to freak out when they show the new Bond, unless it's a midget or Tom Hardy. He walks like a caveman and he's the complete opposite of elegant and sophisticated. Nice guy tho, he likes dogs. 🤗

Man did you hit the nail on the head.

It’s funny how people seem to always pull Tom Hardy’s name up for any action oriented male character role anymore.

Black Bond, the obvious choice is Idris Elba, which would be fine if it has to happen, but man does Cavill seem like he’s made for the role. That guy deserves a break too.

I don't think it will be any big name. Cavill is too goody to me which made him a perfect Superman. Elba is too old. They will go under the radar like Craig. Hard to beat Craig's voice though as he speaks a Bond as good or better than the other Bonds.

I’d be inclined to agree about Cavill, but he was pretty ruthless in Mission: Impossible.

I do agree though, in that it should be a relatively unknown type. I’m all for that.
