Ok guys, lets keep it civil. Religious threads never have been something we've been able to have, so lets not turn this one into a religious debate because it won't end well. Please keep the discussion to the movie and the story of Noah as much as possible and away from big picture religious discussions.

I'm in your corner Teemu..

As far as the movie goes. I don't plan on seeing it. For me, the best biblical movie is The Passion of The Christ.

Powerful..

I just got back from seeing this one. I thought it was pretty good. Not Aronofsky's best by any stretch, but an interesting version of this story. I will def look forward to owning the blu-ray. Also want to say I enjoyed Russell Crowe as Noah. One of his best performances in years.

It was an interesting movie. Easily forgotten. As a Christian I wasn't offended and I'm ready to go see Cap and then Arnold this week.

Aronofsky is an interesting director but yet too immature.
He ripped off a lot of stuff but was smart enough to disguise it well hence why i kinda hated him for a while.
I do have a new found respect for him with NOAH since he dedicated it to the memory of Satoshi Kon.

Is this kinda like 300 then with all the added fantasy creatures and stuff? Sounds pretty rad.

No, not like 300 at all. Not nearly enough action for that. This could be seen as a darker fairy tale. He took some things from books that are not apart of the Christian Bible, and added his own version. Specifically the Nephilim and their role in the old testament. Basically, without giving away any spoilers, this is a film far more interested in philosophy than the rose colored version of Noah's ark we have all heard before. He's not out to change anyone's faith, but is asking some questions about faith, existence, fundamentalism, and our place in the world. If you go in accepting that this is not/and was never going to be the sanitized version of the story you have heard a million times before, you will enjoy it more. That's my two cents anyway. Overall I thought it was a good film. I look forward to the blu-ray.

That's why I said to a couple people that if you go in looking for the straight out of the bible story you're a fool. You're also looking to be insulted. I knew going in it wasn't the version I had hear before and so the changes didn't shock me. I just in the end didn't think it was that great of a movie.

Saw this today along with a double feature of Grand Budapest. This was the weaker movie. Not bad, ok if taken as just a movie. I'd probably give it a 6/10. It shouldn't be drawing Titanic comparisons like in it's commericals. The acting is great though and I was surprised to see Hopkins and Nolte in it.

I went into this one expecting it to be just like the bible story, and I left feeling like a fool who was looking to be insulted. . .and I don't even care about the bible.

Just kidding. I didn't see it, and probably never will. I would watch a Joakim Noah biopic, though.

I wouldn't recommend paying for it but if you ever see it on TV, it's worth a watch.

This is getting attention because this is the first "re-imagining" of a Bible Tale. Understandably so because of the criticism it would get for "lack of authenticity" and "changing the facts", but you have to look at it this way: MOST OF HISTORY'S TALES HAVE BEEN "RE-IMAGINED" IN FILM, POEMS, NOVELS, ETC.

Case in point is "300" and its pre-sequel "300:Rise of an Empire" which embellishes the FACTS (characters, battles, society, etc.) of the Greco-Persian Wars. I could go on and name others: Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, Braveheart, Dozens of WW2 movies, As long as you understand you're seeing an embellishment, that's fine. The studio is not marketing this film as the truth and most of the footage shown on TV sells that the movie dives into A LOT of fiction surrounding the Flood Events.

At the end of the day, Controversy creates Cash and I see that supporters of only "true bible movies" are going to drive more movie-goers to see what all the attention is about.
