I remember the scene in the trailer where Tubal-Cain says to Noah “you stand alone and defy me,” and Noah replied “I am not alone.” The audience cheered, thinking that Noah was referring to God, but alas he was not. When he said “I am not alone,” the Watchers (demons) arose to help him. It is not God, but demons, to whom Noah was referring. These Watchers then help Noah build the Ark and die defending the Ark from Tubal-Cain. Apparently the demons are redeemed as their souls go up to Heaven.

I think your site might've misinterpreted the stupid rock monster thing. That still doesn't sound like defying God to me. It sounds like they initially defied God and got cast out and turned into rock monsters. But, then helped Noah obey God by building and defending the ark ... and, through that obedience, they were redeemed. That's not Luciferism. That's redemption through obedience to God, not redemption through disobedience. Its still stupid and would've been better left out.

They helped Noah. Not humanity. That's not defiance.

Unless they were somewhere specifically ordered by God not to help Noah, I guess. I don't think I've heard that anywhere, though.

Now I get that there are many people throughout the world and on this very site that love the idea of a sacrilegious "Bible" movie. For those who are into that sort of thing, I fully expect this movie to entertain. But if you take this as a literary adaption, it's awful. Imagine LOTR with the ringwraiths being cursed because they were sympathetic to Hobbits but then got redeemed at the end after assisting Frodo in destroying the Ring. Obviously that would annoy people.

I'm not one of those. And, I haven't seen any of the LOTR movies but the first. So, I think you lost me here. Heh.

That makes them demons.

That means Noah relied on demons, not God.

Apparently they *became* demons because they wanted to help humanity. Demons don't like humans, *any* humans, and are not "redeemable" according to the Bible. So God's a jerk who casts out angels for helping man, but then "redeem" them when they give their lives for other men. That couldn't be more against the message of the Bible. The only death necessary for anyone's salvation is the one Jesus provided. We don't get redeemed when we go out in a blaze of glory, God doesn't demand that for salvation. So the movie implies that sacrificing yourself can save your soul (even if you're a demon,) and that maybe demons are just misunderstood sympathetic figures who really just want to help us. Way, way off base from what the Bible teaches.

Kinda shocked that after "The Fountain" they rolled the dice again on Aronofsky epics.

Maybe one day we'll get to see a cool interpretation of the pre-flood world and the Nephilim.

At least we will always have the highly-accurate Jon Voight Noah....

If it's coming from Hellywood, don't hold your breath

Does this movie take place in ancient Mesopotamia? Or Norway like the trailers suggest? I don't care what kind of dragons, and unicorns the filmmakers add to the story, I just want to know why an ancient Jewish fable has a whiter, bluer-eyed cast than THOR.

Simple Scripture of who the (Fallen) Angels were of Noah's time....they were the "sons of God" (referencing ALL Angels as a whole), as The Old Testament always referred to Angels as the sons of God.The Giants were offspring of (Fallen) Angelic Seed, them mating with Human Women. As this group of fallen angels attempted to corrupt man's bloodline to prevent Christ (Our Redeemer) from reaching the Cross...of course, they failed! It was NOT just Sin and wickedness that brought the Flood,it was the corruption of Man's Gene Pool.

Genesis 6:4 "There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."

The Nephilim were the Giants (Nephilim means Fallen ones)

As we Read in II Peter 2:4-5 "For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;"

and in Jude 1:6-7 "And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

These Fallen Angels are bound in chains waiting for their eternal judgement of hellfire

As you can see,The Fallen Angels did NOT help Noah, they were part of the reason why God sent the FLOOD,to wipe out the corrupt Gene pool bloodline....but God Spared EIGHT (not 5 like in the movie)...and Noah who was PERFECT in his Generations (meaning he was not tainted,he was unblemished) (Genesis 6:9)

Because of God's MERCY,he found favor in Noah and elected to start all over with the Human Race again

So was there anyone who was interested in this film because it looked like a fun little fantasy romp? I didn't care about the religious stuff, i'm not faithfull nor am i the kind of person to watch a film purely to mock someone's religion (who the **** sits down for 2 hours just to do that anyway). This movie just looked like fun to me.

It's all moot though, i don't know how many of you are aware of this but some muslim countries have banned this film because portrayals god and his prophets (noah in this case) are considered offensive to them; which ironically seems to jive with how some chrisitians view the movie. My country is predominantly muslim so that means i'll have to download the film or something.

This movie is beautiful. I loved it and found it more powerful than any other biblical film I have seen. Sorry if the film offends you, because you really are missing out on something extraordinary.

Did you see it? I'm betting not.

I don't need to....I have read the reviews and they review the same of what is in the Movie

I can open the book of Genesis in the Bible and get the TRUTH of what really went down during that time...I don't need to see the Athiest,God-Hating interpretation that Liberal Director has given to it.

Drew Brees and his wife did the Noah cosplay thing at their local theater, and he won a Super Bowl, so it's probably cool.

I was not impressed I thought it was slow in some parts and in others it dragged on. I am not sure why they would need to show the animals coming to the ARK 3 different times and just the overall in he end lacked drive.

The comic which this is based of is far better then this movie if you are interested should take a look, and I understand now why people would be pissed.

Let's the say the Bible presents an absolutely, infallibly true retelling of historical events. Then what makes it any different from any other historical text when it comes to artistic interpretation, i.e. a film adaptation? Even biopics based on the likes of Cleopatra and Lincoln have to be spiced up a bit for narrative flow and entertainment purposes. In the case of Noah, how else can you make an engaging 2.5 hour movie out of a story that amounts to a couple of pages at most?

I haven't seen the movie, but I am a fan of Biblical epics so I'll give it a shot. But again, can anyone answer why a story based in ancient Mesopotamia features a whiter cast than THOR?
