If I thought it was clear, I wouldn't have asked for clarification. The terms 'clique' and 'community' lack obvious referents. They're fairly interchangeable in the context you've used them, but it appears you did not find it necessary to distinguish them beyond connotation.

Thread killer here also. And since I don't post as often as most here, many don't read my posts. I've been on this board since April 2004. Sometimes frustrating to post something, then 6 posts later, someone else posts similar opinions and it's their post that gets quoted and discussed. ah well.....go with the flow Mr Noob

On the flip side, there's also a wider sense of community beyond that which is nice.

He simply said that there is a clique that exists, whether you believe there is one or if more than on exists is irrelevant. It's his opinion. Pretty simple concept really. I'm sure most of the readers understood what he was saying. Greatwall obviously agrees as do I.

He also never said that that clique did not deserve to be regarded as part of the community rather that there was a wider 'sense of community' beyond that.

You are mixing up 'sense of community' with 'did not deserve to be regarded as part of this community.' Something he never wrote at all.

Perhaps some others that understood what Wanderer meant can chime in too to help explain the concept. Any others get it?

Community is a concept that denotes inclusion. Clique is a concept that denotes exclusion. Wanderer specifically distinguished one group of members as being apart from the wider community. But in refusing to state which members he was referring to---instead opting for a nebulous insult to the effect that they spend too much time on the internet---he left the terms clique and community completely devoid of meaning. The only way someone could pretend to understand his post is if they had certain members in mind.
